  • but you still want a rover as a pet, with all the humanizing the media's passed on, so yankees keep funding these childish bot missions that keep nasa's hopelessy lazy and only marginally qualified (they had to contract out getting there!) staff in HUGE salaries.

  • I think you'd have to be a moron not to realize that mars was once in earth's "Goldilocks" zone or lifesupport not too hot not too cold zone, as the sun was hotter in the past! (yeesh). All we're doing with motorized Fujitsu cams on mars is getting the dust facts on our current ball of matter when the sun is colder than it is now. yawn. :)

  • i hope i live long enough to see landing Humans on Mars

  • My hats off to Dr Steve Squyers and his teams!!!!!!!! I have never seen anyone with more charisma than Steve. We had so many others who were involved with space in the past. He is so far the only one that has sat and will tell what he knows or does not know. That to me is awesome. We cannot land and expect answers right away. It is Science. We have to keep going!! :)

  • rvfharrier your a retard you cant ever land on the sun it never goes out its just the earth rotating one side is facing the sun the other isnt the sun will never go out untill it dies

  • @Dwighty45 Lol, just randomly came across this video again and saw this. Are you not a funny person or are you just plain stupid?

  • Can they land on the Sun during winter time?

  • No need to wait until Winter, just land on it at night when it goes out.

  • Absolutely, but why haven't they landed already, they used send their a robot.

  • fail

  • Ses pourri

  • Is that image at 3:57 true color? if it is thats pretty cool.

  • This Wall-E kind robot is so sweet ^.^

    O.o what if it's Wall-E's cousin

    O.o Don't forget obout spirit ^.^

    spirit is cute too ^.^

  • fucking,,, i need to wait for the video to load goddamn

  • ethane methane lake! and that's titan, saturn's moon

  • Oh k

  • Hmmm, I wonder how Uranus' land looks like. Must be Winter Wionderland every day :P

  • it has no land

  • anyone know wherei can watch more about this thing on mars? message me please thx

  • i would like to know wher i can watch the hole thing to i missed it on tv. did u findout?

  • I dunno there arn't any malls or burger kings on mars I dont think I like it...

  • nasa rules!

  • So let's terraform it. Let's put the plants, bacteria and viruses that will make it "Earthlike". Then when all this stuff mutates, let's move there, take off our helmets and breathe the "Earthlike" air. Then die due to our immune systems saying, "What the hell is this?". I like this video, though. Thanks for posting.

  • so all we need to do now is crash some ice comets into it, just like in spore xP

Martian world here we come ^^

  • I like mars,its make me excited

  • FANTASTIC & AMAZING!

  • Extraordinario, me maravilla todo lo que el hombre puede y podra hacer en el futuro.

  • true, think about of the infinite possibilities.

  • Has564 you won't ever find those answers if you keep thinking they are trying to find something materialistic.

  • OK lets just pretend if they do find liquid water, and MAYBE some life bacteria and shit. But what is really the point? Aren't their enough humans already existing on earth? What is really the point of spending so much money on robots just to search for some weird life bacteria? Can someone explain? I do think its so cool that they are able to see an actual different planet, but what are they gonna get from it?

  • so your telling me if they DID find life on mars, you wouldnt be interest at all?

  • Bacteria untouched by anything on earth could be vital to curing cancer, also cocks

  • The most important thing of all - understanding how Universe works.

  • Well if they learn about it, maybe anything living on the planet may be useful on Earth...for a cure or something...or someday, maybe people can move to different planets so Earth has more space :O

  • The use? Scientific exploration, research, study of the unknown. At one point in time, studying electrons was "useless" science. Who cares about a particle with a mass of 9.1 * 10^-28 grams, right? Magnetic fields: invisible forces, ok, great. Also useless, right?

We explore to learn about the Universe we live in. Pursuit of knowledge helps advance us as a species.

    Also: Google for "NASA spinoffs."

  • ok I do understand that, but you are not getting what I am trying to ask. All I am saying is, what would they achieve by finding another form of life? Do they HONESTLY expect any knowledge from them? As a religious prespective, or should I say even from a normal person's prespective; Humans are the best creation in the whole universe. What they are looking for on mars is a form of LIFE, supported by water, they are not looking for more usefull material resources or anything.

  • "If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little." - George Carlin

If we're the best thing the Universe has got, that's pretty pathetic, really.

Evidence of life will help us learn about life itself, how it can form, and where it can form.

I think the best bet for life in this solar system is Jupiter's moon Europa. It's got lots of evidence of a large sub-surface ocean of water.

  • there's not water in that jupiters moon i think it's some other liquid but i haven't heard almost anything about jupiter moons. but ofcourse there can be little water but it can't be full of water like earth :D

  • u blow goats

  • u polute the planet BITCH

  • The planet is fine.

  • you mean gaia

  • hey i watched this movie in the science centre

  • why are the fotos black and white?? i mean cmon they couldve used a color camera on that robot

  • I'm sure there's a reason. If they've gotten this far, they're obviously not stupid. :P

  • No they wouldn't. Monochromatic ccd with filter wheel is more important because brings more data of scientific value. You think it's there to make nice pictures, so You could put them on the wall. Wrong. It's there to collect data.

  • nerd, chill

  • Their cameras take B&W images through a variety of color filters, and can see more colors than a human. To get an approximate true-color image, they can take 3 pictures, 1 in red, 1 green, and 1 blue. (3 primary colors of light = RGB). They are calibrated for brightness, and combined. Result: approximate color.

They can also take a 13-wavelength image, and combine them for an even better color picture.

Special wavelengths are useful to geologists.

  • its a primitive wall-e

  • human being is a great creature...

  • thats why the natives must die

  • I know someone at my office who doesn't believe we went to the moon. She doesn't even think there are satelites. She thinks satelite TV is actually achieved by using cable technology, but they pretend to use satelites in order to make us think the space program is working. The motivation? To get a budget that they can use for nepharious purposes, of course.

  • send someone with a 5 year supply of food, and launch thier asses into mars, they'll tell you more than that little piece of shit robot!

  • science is evreything & everything is science.......mashalla tbaraka alla.

  • where are the transformers?

  • lol yea i thought a transformer destroyed the mars lander. i also think that a transformer could have stolen the hubble telescope's lens. since it doesnt actually have one XP.

  • This exploration is one of our most amazing, yet least publicized and least understood, accomplishments. I'm in awe.

  • what about nibiru?

and if all of these were full videos. america would be a lot smarter.

  • Man i love this shit

  • Here comes Galaxy stage? (kudos to who ever gets what I mean. :))

  • nerd

  • Uninformed, you are.

  • Okay ... yoda.

    fucking retard ...

  • No gtfo, you seem to be autistic.

  • Marsnik 1

  • Mars had water plain and symple and if it had water i bet you it had life

  • I hope we find an Earth like planet so that one day we may colonize it. The Earth is becoming to small everyday for humans to dwell in. If the rest of the world procreates like the Chinese, then we are doomed!

  • When are we gonna have an explanation of why there was once liquid water on Mars, but there no longer is?

However, the naysayers who say that there has never been liquid water on Mars do not, as far as I know, have an adequate explanation of how such things could form without liquid water.

  • That answer will take some time.

  • there is no longer water because mars has alot less mass then earth and slowly over time because of its small size the atmosphere escaped and drifted away.

    This includes water vapor.

  • I wish there was another planet like earth, that would be awesome lol

  • go to funland. Its better than earth!

  • 123456789

  • whats that about

  • We might find a planet with low gas prices! AMAZING!

  • thats intresting

  • IS EARTH the holy plant that has life on it ? and whats beyond space ?

  • Maybe elmo lives in Alpha Cintari

  • Thats amazing... I really cant wait for the day humans travel to mars.. fortunately im still young, so i will definitely see that day...

  • hmmmmm i dont even think we can see that happen for a long time so dont count on it :P

  • it's nice to explore maybe but it's a waste of time/money, really. They should instead concentrate on outer solar system etc and pay money to develop new engine technologies etc. This is a major waste of everything.

  • Mars is the most promising planet.

  • We must always remember, "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

We take it, one small step at a time.

  • one small step for wall-e

  • One giant leap for wall-e-kind?

  • yeah lol

  • It's morning on mars!

  • Nice Vid

If There is a planet in the milkway were we in the future can life, Than is it Mars.

  • Yes that's nice but does it have internet access? lol

  • Well...the name of this rover really brings it to a head...this is the opportunity of a lifetime...now that we know that Mars can in fact support life, we need to find out about the history of Mars..wow it is overwhelming how much we don't know about this place...but it seems like a safe assumption that we will be colonizing Mars sooner than later

  • Brilliance! I think it was a water planet like ours, but then something completely wiped out the planet. Like an asteroid or a volcanic heat wave or a horrible war in which the Martians completely destroyed their own planet. Now the property's up for grabs haha.

  • i truely find this amazing and i think the other rover ehhhhhhhh spirt (?) shud go up the hill coz there has been so much work put into this, if mars can support life that would be so great.

  • NAT GEO give us more Mars !!!

  • imagine if the find E.T chillin out with aliens hahaha

  • I want to build a home in mars :P

  • don't use the internet anymore. stop using cars. grow your own food. Build your own home. drop your cell phone in the garbage. Bye, nice knowing you.

  • Wtf, i was talkin about the fuckin robot, it's totally useless...

  • How is finding out if other planets can support life "totally useless" as you put it?

We are quickly running out of room and resources here on earth if you had not noticed and if we plan to survive our own growth we need to expand beyond what earth can offer.

But most likely you know this and just felt like being a douche bag troll.

  • True, but mars is not about resources and all that crap. It's just exploration.

  • I do not think they would be so focused on finding water if it was just a matter of going to other planets and looking around.

But of course its a mixture of reasons that make it a worth while venture.

  • "It's just exploration."

Not quite. Every bit of information is a piece of the puzzle of life.

  • To YOU, it's useless. You probably also thought the Apollo mission was useless.

    You just might be wrong...

  • Amazing!

  • Kewl.

  • love science love life love youtube

  • Look at the ratings on "scientific" discoveries or any video relating to sciene.

    "Science r evil".

  • with out science I would be dead, still evil?

  • Without science, we wouldn't be commenting on this YouTube video...

  • go wall-e!! go wall-e!!

  • ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL!

  • ahahahahahaha true true. the ancestor to wall-e

  • it's not fucking wall-e crap

  • Cool.......

  • go on Little Robot! Let's see what is out there! Interesting too find out- are we the only? !

  • it's just so funny to see these very "intelligent" people here with their naivety. NO there are no way we have life in our solar system other than us and maybe some bacteria which would be the most amazing discovery but by itself yet means nothing and wastes too much of all kinds of things.

  • Wait, what?

  • how would you know?

  • keep going little rover!

  • I love these mars videos, Its so interesting to see whats out there.
