ok I do understand that, but you are not getting what I am trying to ask. All I am saying is, what would they achieve by finding another form of life? Do they HONESTLY expect any knowledge from them? As a religious prespective, or should I say even from a normal person's prespective; Humans are the best creation in the whole universe. What they are looking for on mars is a form of LIFE, supported by water, they are not looking for more usefull material resources or anything.

Evidence of life will help us learn about life itself, how it can form, and where it can form.

I think the best bet for life in this solar system is Jupiter's moon Europa. It's got lots of evidence of a large sub-surface ocean of water.
