I've seen Charlie solo and with Farrenheit here in the Boston area. Not only a great musician, but a really cool guy. He always has his fans, takes requests and pictures. I've got a bunch of signed albums from him, Muzz, and Dave Hull (Heit). Muzz drums with Beetlejuice and is fantastic! JT8800 in Boston.
@amasrof ..... WOW MR. "C's" in lowell !!! man thats a name from the past.... back when lowell still had that grimey feel to it, its all changed..... thanks for the good memory.....
I saw Farrenheit opening for Boston on the Third Stage tour in St Louis, October '87. Loved them and I went out and bought their album the next day. Awesome to find this on YT these many years later.
Amazing.....does anyone remember what the cover of this album looked like? was it mainly bright orange with the guys faces on it? I vaguely remember. Excellent song.
We, Vertex Entertainment, are making a mini-doc at the moment on Charlie Farren and Jon Butcher. Trailer to Farren - Butcher on our channel and (or) in the video responses. Please make a visit to our website also @ vertexentertainment . com
Charlie-- I credit this song for re-directing me to your incredible talent (I had seen you with Joe Perry Project previously.) This album, and your mind-blowing/ass-kicking opening for Boston sold me. Keep rockin', and look forward to future great music!!
Thanks JS1268 . . . . I have a new project - and a new record in the works - with Jon Butcher . . . we're in the final stages of a new recording project called FARREN, BUTCHER, INC. (FBI). Wait 'til folks hear this new record!
@FManInternational Hey man, don't let that flame flicker out. Saw you live a few times over the years and you were the real deal. Still love that Farrenheit album. Wish I could write songs like that.
When Charlie was working for Digital way back when, he was Jesus hisself on our internal music message board. A guy working with all of us computer geeks, recording with Joe Perry and having a video getting played on MTV?
His pimp hand was very strong and we were all his slaves.
what the heck happen to these guys. I remember when it came out, bought the cd and never stopped loving it. I can't believe it didn't take off in a bigger way. this is like journey type music, and like it almost equally. still i shake my head today and wonder if the promoters just sucked.. they should have been huge. maybe they should try re-release as a comeback or something...what a shame
This album/cd/cassette is out of print. I had it on cassette and lost it in a fire, but I found it on cd on amazon.com used for very cheap and excellent conditiion. Did you know that Farrenheit had two other releases? I have yet to hear them. Charlie Farren just hooked up with Jon Butcher (Jon Butcher Axis) to form a band FBI
I first saw them when they opened for Boston in 1986 I think? Maybe 87. I still listen to this day. My first cassette is worn out not that I have anything to play it on now and I'm on the second copy of the CD.
I still have this album on cassette tape. Wish I could convert it before it deteriorates. Love this band. They had this one album then drifted off into obscurity.
I just love this album, I first heard when I was working in Record Town in Downtown Crossing in Boston and it was a welcome respite from the awful U2 albums we were made to play on site. I grew up in Massachusetts and this (plus the Joe Perry Project) have always represented the very essence of Boston in my mind. It still does, even 20 years later and listening on another continent from a place I long since left, it's pure champagne. I still have the vinyl and it's perfect from start to finish.
most amazing band I ave EVER heard...my dad listens to them ALL the time and we're such big fans. they're music is absolutely outstanding. I'm surprised they're not a legend.
The best part about bands like Farrenheit is their music which remains genuine, though not commercial. Compare a song like this to the garbage you hear on the radio today - and you just can't. This song comes from the heart, not from overproduction.
Charlie used to work at Boston Music across from the Commons back in the late 70's. He was always very nice. I used to go to the store just about every Saturday as a young musician. He had some early sucess prior to him front the Joe Perry Project in the early 80's.
...one thing I did not forget, is that Farrenheit blew Boston out of the water. I was so impressed with their performance, I went and bought the cassette the next day. I was 15 years old. Those were the days!
Charlie, you do rock buddy! I saw Farrenheit open for Boston, in I believe 87? It was at the Worcester Centrum, one of the 8 sold out shows!! I believe I saw show #7. I observed 4:20 quite often in those days so excuse the memory lapse's. However.....
This made the rotation on MTV for a little bit...that where I heard the song for the first time. Bought the 45 & the album a little bit later on. Great song!
Charlie is my favorite singer to ever come out of Boston, and he's just as great now as he was then. To me, he's as smooth and as soulful as Marvin Gaye.
Thanks to Charlie for making this one of the absolute best tunes of the 80's and beyond-and thanks to him for posting the vid! Charlie Farren is not to be missed! JTK P.S. He's got great live shows including a tribute show to Brad Delp this week.
You guys should see them now. Both Charlie and Jon Butcher are playing together in FBI and the new cd is incredible..

Amen!!
I could never understand why Charlies music never made it big time when it's clear that it's dynamite music.
Taken in context this was out when Whitesnake was huge.
It sounds fresh in 2009.
Can you say that about Whitesnake?
