  • Love how the female joins in on the vocals and one of the best to come out of the 80s

  • @luxyaltz219 i might be getting my songs mixed up but i seem to recall that girl is some relation to alexei sayle

  • @gabsmabs62 That's interesting because he of course is also from Liverpool and would have been on tv a lot around the same time as CC were in the charts .

  • Greatness! My brain remembered this song after 20 something years out of the blue!

  • Fantastic song.

    Makes you feel good.

    The eighties were brilliant.

  • Another great Liverpool band! Superb!

  • This reminded me of Howard Jones when it came out, it still does.

  • Hi everybody, I am the Pope....I object in the most strongest terms to this song title but I do admit to shaking my mickey to it

  • Das ist wuuuuunderbar. I love this song and many others from China Crisis

  • Walter Becker from Steely Dan produced that album.

  • funky beat going on in this new wave, well done

  • Catholic means world wide or universal in intent - it is not just a flavour of religion!

  • i'm Athiest!

  • Heard Wishful Thinking on radio yesterday & thought to myself "Hey these guys were actually very talented" so here i am Youtubing K.I.A.C.S. which is quite superb. Oh & i'm C of E too, who gives a shit!

  • I'm C of E who cares ?

  • im jewish????

  • I thought "'king in a Catholic style" was the rhythm method.

  • I'm Catholic!!!

  • simply amazing

  • A friend of mine gave me this album years ago. I was blown away. Great stuff.

  • 3 People didn't "Wake up .. Wake up"

  • @leon2457 bump this one, good concept.

  • still a very good band....

    music is awesome

  • Brilliant song! Brilliant band!

  • I was thinking about this song earlier today, and here it appears as a recommended video for me to play. This song and album ranked fairly high in CFNY's top 85 of 85.

  • God bless Franz Duke of Bavaria. The Jacobite king of the UK.

  • Geremy Vine played them on his show today and there was a huge reaction ,people calling in wanting their album.

He is going to invite them on to his show soon to sing live.

  • hi jane do you still have the tape i gave you in 91 ??? ..i gave you there greatest hits as you liked them ... and me too ..god i miss you and hannah as mates ../. we did have good times eh ???

  • happy days

  • this sounds even better live, seen them 3 weeks ago and they still sound brillant

  • Such a criminally underrated band! I love the vocal on this one in particular.

  • I recall this fine tune from way back in the day (and only played on alt rock radio) ....just forgot who the band was....for years struggling to remember the band name....until today when I came across the 1985 EP "Wake Up" in my stash of albums (originally paid a mere $2.49 at Tower Records). China Crisis.I am now complete and whole again.

  • Full of atmosphere with one of the most "complete" guitar breaks

  • love this and "fire and steel" these guys were closer to 10cc. DEVO was/is DEVO totally different sound. i love em both the similarirty is they are BOTH quirky and unique and both are great bands...i was there m48 : ) peace out......

  • Honestly, within the "Living In Oblivion" series, I felt this was the most oblivious hit that is so 80's DOPE!!! A smooth beat that is so 80's and makes me think of gorgeous rocking Blondes!!!

  • Elliot Randall and Jeff Baxter played the solos in "Reeling" Not Becker.Great solo though.Becker was a bass player.

  • One of the better bands in the 80's. Walter Becker from Steely Dan produced this album which accounts for the excellent quality (and I believe that is his lead guitar, sounds a little like "reeling through the years").

  • if you google that entire sentence.....

  • Good spot on the guitar solo

  • i like eggs

  • me 2

  • I saw them at The Ritz in NYC in the eighties!

  • WOW. this band was always n magazines on british music but I never bought one of their albums.Catchy not as unhappy as most brit bands.Likeable.

  • Kocham ten utwór!! That was in Polish = I love this song!!

  • ''king in a catholic style'' is one of my favourites, also ''secret'' is another song I love.I like very much and others songs of them but I don't remember their titles well

  • I love their songs.I had a tape with China Crisis songs when I was in High School.I just love to hear their songs over and over again and never feel bored!

  • Which is your favorite? Mine is "Working with Fire and Steel". First heard it when I was an exchange student in Japan so it always reminds me of Tokyo...

  • spent last winter in philippines, saw arnel pineda and journey at mall of asia,

  • personally i love arizona sky

  • wonderful

    wunderbar

    gorgeous !

  • @forzamicha46 excellent under rated band always great music

  • Just discovered this and I think it's fantastic!!!

  • soy de Mexico excelente rola y muy rara felicidades por seguir con esta musica

  • corking song from a vastly underated group

  • Good song for the pope lol

  • sugarbabe06, I suggest you look up the many meanings of "Catholic". You may be surprised, this song is NOT about religion.

  • Still sounds as good today as it did back then...

  • Released 24 years ago this month..where the hell have the years gone?

  • Saw them live at The Cavern last November.....SUPERB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what a fukkin band, amazing.

  • China Crisis and Devo... 2 of my favorite bands but sound NOTHING like each other. China Crisis was more sophisticated pop than Devo's totally new wave sound coming out of punk. Both bands... "worlds apart" :P

  • Had you been there, you'd not think them Devo at all. The similarities are due to the period and the genre but this is a really well-crafted song. Same effects and musical genre, different class altogether. Devo was schtick - no one took them seriously back in the day. Get past the electronics- this is a really good song.

  • Very nice guitar solo. Whole song too of course:)

  • Coming from someone who loves new wave, i should be the last person to say this, but really, this is a total Devo ripoff.

  • Lol!!! Now that you said it....I do hear tons of Devo in this tune! Maybe Mark Mothersbaugh was the producer ;)

    "We're all DEVO" !!! ,)

  • They were never truly recognised or appreciated for the talent they were - the best band of their era! Truly brilliant, but i've never seen them live unfortunately.

    watch?v=sUeeHIMZj58

  • GREAT,GREAT SONG-Love that snare sound!!

  • so underrated. absolutely great. Long live China Crisis!

  • You are correct, sir. Sorry about that!!!

  • No need to apologise my friend. Just glad to help.

  • One of my favorite songs. They're from South Africa and were discovered and produced by Walter Becker of Steely Dan.

  • They are Gary Daly & Eddie Lundon. They are from Kirby, Liverpool, England.

  • This song was on the first CD I ever bought... geez what memories... do you think this band was ahead of its time? Or that the lyrics were too sophisticated?

I mean many people don't get The Style Council, Prefab Sprout, etc, all these cerebral brands whose songwriters had BAs or masters degrees - what do you think?

  • Agreed. The 80s was cursed with some truly awful music. I think records like this and records from the bands mentioned steadied the boat, until the late 80s started to sort things out that is.

  • What great songs, fantastic melodies, from a underrated band. Brilliant.

  • I love this band, they are highly addictive because they are gifted!

  • China Crisis' best song. Simple as! Thanks everso for posting :-)

  • Another great underrated band.

  • Good song.

  • Excellent song.

  • es la cancion mas representativa de este magnifico grupo

  • esta banda si es buena con su clase musica
