The writing of the Pete and Dud routines was genius in itself, but the DELIVERY was sheer genius! These two were unparalleled then and still are today. Most Yanks don't "get it" because most Yanks don't recognise either the "big words" or play on words.

There are a few, rare, exceptions, so don't get your knickers in a knot, Yanks.

You can always spot a true prol by his cloth cap and the heavy coat his wearing. A good coat comes in handy when your sitting in a draughty cafe blowing on your egg and chips, or trying to keep warm at the back of the library, perusing some of those big books. But its when his talking about clever stuff like medicine that he really shows his breeding. You gotta have good breeding to talk about the Latin in medicine.

I, for the most part, just don't get English humor. BUT - Butt, these two REALLY crack me up! Contagious! I always loved Dudley Moore! He was always funny, no matter where in the world he performed.
