Go Greta! Dachshunds are a great breed and very adaptable. They are determined little runts too. When one of ours was paralyzed we were devastated but a week at the hospital and several weeks of home therapy she regained most of her ability to walk. If she was a human I think she might have given up. But she didn't know she wasn't supposed to get well. It was definitely one time I was glad for the Dachsie stubborness.
@activist405 and kassiebec: Did your Daschound's lose the feeling in their legs? My Daschound did and had back surgery a little over a week ago and still does not have feeling. I have heard stories of some regaining feeling and walking again in up to 6 weeks, so I am hopeful. I am so glad yours recovered and hope and pray my lil guy does too. He is only 4 and a half and was the most active, happiest, loving dog.
@mington it took years before she got feeling back, but she can walk again now without a wheelchair. and even when she couldn't, she was still a very happy little dog! i didn't think i could get used to having to care for her the way she is, but i have gotten very accustomed to it and she lives a great life. best of luck!
It just came back by itself? That is great and gives me hope as it is now a few months since my dashound lost his feeling in his hind section. Thanks for the info and update! ;)
She doesn't need her wheelchair any more so I can't remember. She is walking again now! Good luck with your dog. I hope she recovers. But if she does end up needing a doggie wheelchair, it's not so bad!
Does the dog pee and poop with the wheels on too? I have a long hair thats having major back problems and currently shes kennel bound except when we take her out and use the towel method to hold up her rear end.
It's wonderful to see what a difference the cart can make for your dog and that she still has a great quality of life. I bet she loved being able to run again!
Wonderful video! As an owner of a dachshund in a cart it was beautiful thing to see. Looks like an Eddies Wheels, same as ours. Thank You for giving her a quality of live that she deserves.
Bless you guys for not giving up on her and showing everyone out there what a wonderful thing a 2nd chance can be. She is so cute and looks so loved and very happy.
