What played a major role in the war was that Israel's military industrial complex and other interests wanted the resources in the Syrian areas it captured, and it wanted East Jerusalem. Israel was searching for a Casus Belli, a reason to go to war. Even Israel's generals later admitted they knew Egypt was not mobilized for a war.
