This is a routine landing to Reno. I live in Reno and everytime I fly to and from home it is a rollercoaster of an experience :P It is perfectly normal mind you and is purely because Reno happens to be in a bowl of mountains. This place is the windiest I have ever been to, and it is always windy here.
Southwest Pilots are GREAT! I've flown into Reno, Las Vegas, Sacramento, and Burbank, and all of them can be VERY windy...SW Pilots do many takeoff/landings per week, many time flying in these very windy conditions. KUDOS to Southwest! Keep up the good work!
Great video! We have approached Reno twice, once with Reno Air and once with Southwest and it was also very windy. Please check out my videos, if you like rainy and bumby, check out my videos of Nok Air arriving in Bangkok or a very hard landing in Brunei with a B767 from Royal Brunei Airlines. Enjoy! Rgs from Switzerland.
Well, I was on a SW flight to Columbus, OH in March one time that was similarly rough. I must say it was a little scary. However I knew the plane could take it and that the pilots knew precisely what they were doing. Thank God pilots are professionals like Chesley Sullenburger who really know how to handle whatever happens.
Reno is a horrible airport to fly into because of the turbulence. I will not fly willingly into that airport. The flexing of the wings is normal and the approach around the hill is normal and safe. Thanks for reminding me why I dont\,t fly to Reno!
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Turbulence is fun but at the same time scary.....but I agree the pilots did an AWESOME JOB and that is one reason why I don;t want to be a real airline pilot no offense because I have lives on the plane and I never want to do a crosswind landing in real life scary stuff!
Nice, I've got couple such windy landings and for sure it's not very comfortable, and little bit scary I would say.
However on my today's flight from San Francisco to Paris CDG with Air France B747-400, we've got into very heavy turbulences after 2 hours of flight over US. Man, I almost shit my pants, B747 was like some paper plane for 10 minutes. Unfortunately it happened during dinner, so I lost almost all food, but I was not hungry for few hours after that "accident" anyway :-(
THIS IS SO BOGUS!!!! THE VIDEO THAT SHOWS THE PLANE GOING AROUND IS BURBANK!!!!

Now that's what I call a WINDY landing. Great work by SWA pilots. In my opinion, their some of the best around.

Southwest is one word if your referring to the airline. you make it seem like your coming in for a landing from the south west. but neat vid
