I've been driving myself nuts while trying to do smooth pannings with my old 128RC Manfrotto head, even with the "super special" rubber band aid, lol. I was sort of contemplating between the 501 and 7011 HDV, but will be looking into this seriously.
Moving up from that head, you'll be blown away with the 504HD. There's no comparison. You should call us if you're thinking about it. We are often running specials on the 504HD and other Manfrotto tripods and heads.
If you are or have made the investment with a glide track, I would definately go with the 504HD. It is a litte more money than the 501HDV but to maintain the smoothness of a shot while in transition on a track, the 504HD's true fluid head will be more than worth the small extra cost.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions! I have used the 501 in the past, and after watching the review and many opinions, I will definitely go with the 504. Thank you for your help!
The starts and stops are perfectly smooth... it doesn't stick. It performs every bit of what you would expect from a true fluid head.
We would love to make you the first in West Austraila to own one. If you're interested, please contact me and we can make arrangements to ship overseas.
@takeonefilmandvideo Thanks for the offer. I've not been so happy with the 501 so i've become very picky and need to try before i order or buy it. If i manage to try one here then i might order one from you if the price is cheap than local:)
I understand completely. Hopefully you can find one there to try out. If so, I think you will find that it is much better than the 501HDV in every level. You definately get more performance for the modest increase in price. Good luck, and please let us know if you have any other questions.
Sorry, meant 701, not 7011.
