  • So no collage just like that I can become a movie producer like Sony productions and happy Madison productions and make millions?

  • whats a city hall

  • Comment removed

  • @mubikayi2 police headquarters especially the mayor's office

  • Love ur vids! very informative and to the point, thanx!

  • If you have the contacts and material to start a production company, how helpful do you think this douche is? People do not usually go straight into production they normally are in the industry and see an opportunity or a need for it, on one side you need contacts with directors, writers etc on the other side people with financial backing, if u register a company and a director has a script, u love it, how are you going to make it, with hopes and dreams, please never make a video again.

  • This video is a DIRECT QUOTE from the book "From Reel to Deal' by Dov S.S. Simmens. This guy in the video has no experience other than being able to read.

Most people start a production company to make their films a lot easier. It ensures creative control, and all you need is a name and a business license. If you want to make a company because you want to produce films, not direct, then don't watch this, do your research, and like others have said. MAKE A BUSINESS PLAN!

  • @SpeakToMe19 yea but some of us dont like to read so this is good

  • @SpeakToMe19 How come none of the responses actually go into detail, even a little, of how it's supposed to be done? Also he might not have told people everything but it's not like he was giving misinformation. I myself made a small documentary a few years ago and I didn't have a business plan.

  • Very interesting, but here is my plight.

Can you begin a 'production company', or at least have a filmmaking group "Name" that is soley yours without others able to take it? I heard its expensive to have a patent, so can anyone give me a good understanding of that?

  • @vegnegune You don't patent names. You trademark names, and that only cost about $350

  • are you my filipino friend ?

  • why are you people so negative towards this video? Isn't your production "COMPANY" a business too? maybe this is the way you start any company of any kind including production.

I thank you for this video and all the others you have posted. Great information!

  • Indeed you have to do your research properly. A business plan may be helpful but as far as Film company goes its much more difficult to plot growth as there is no specific way to plot financial success.

  • You incorrectly described how to start ANY company.

Nothing you said is specific a production company.

You might want to mention a little thing called a Business Plan. Sorta important.

  • only if you plan on getting a loan from a bank or an angel (investor)

  • k. first of all im not ur fuckin friend.

second, KISS- keep it simple stupid.

  • You might want to start by getting the shot in focus and add a light:)

  • OK this sort of gives you the very basics of registering any company in America. Anyone wishing to actually do this needs to do a lot more research before making this decision. If you don't think and plan ahead things will get very complicated down the road. I don't say this to be discouraging, but just think.

  • From reel to deal by Dov S-S Simens

  • Basically what you tell us is how to register any kind of company in America, not how to go about starting a production company. Its a good video, but not for the purpose I was looking for.

  • I loved your video! Straight forward. To the point! Loved it. Thanks for a good starting point. Need to do a bit more research, but thanks for just telling people how to start out right. Thanks!

  • Thanks very informative.

  • Thanks for that!!

  • very good tips. I'll have to try them out.

  • How old do you have to be to register?

  • Probably 18?

  • if you would rather have a sole proprietor type but with the insurance of saving personal assests i'd go with a single member LLC
