  • I've made the hair I want using the curves. I did as you did in the video and created a sphere and put hair on it, then transferred that hair from that into the curves. The thing is, I no longer need the sphere with the hair, and yet when I try to get rid of it, and the hair on it, I end up getting the rid of the hair on the curves. Is there any way to keep the hair that I want (the ones on the curves) and get rid of the one that I don't (the sphere and the hair on it)?

  • this is one of the most helpful tutorials i've seen online, the only thing missing here is how to attach the hair to your scalp/model. i don't really understand how to parent follicles so the only thing i can do so far i make the hair. i would like to know how you attach it to your scalp so when you move it the hair moves with the head, but it looks like you're not active anymore since i notice a lot of people asking similar question but no reply.

  • Heya, after creating your hairs from curves how do you root the hair to scalp for dynamics?

    Thanks in advance~

  • Thanks for the tutorial! I was just wondering though. Since the first ball of hair needs to stick around for the nurbs hair to work. whats the best way of hiding it? Also, how do you go about adding colliders to it so that it wont go through my characters face?

  • yay, finally a tut on youtube thats good on maya hair. cheers dude

  • بشرفك !!!؟

  • @lordofnigh

    english my friend

  • One question, I have full character (by that I mean head is attached to the body and rigged.) In your opinion would you parent the follicles to the rig? out of curiosity.

  • @mtranger r u stupid or wha? parent the folicles to the mesh, its suposed that the mesh is paretned to the rig

  • Hi nice tutorial

will constraint " colide sphere" work with this type of hair modeling?

  • @simon472sthlm

hey i think you are referring to animation yes? if so then that could work yes, i havent used it for animating much yet so i dont have all the kinks worked out

  • very helpful dude, still cant get the hair to move wiht the head but nathan the internet cant tell me, parenting dusnt work

  • Hey, I know you, your in my class :p Funny that I would come across this video randomly on google.

  • lmao.. "ya thats what i want, some red hair"

  • This Is Good But How Do I Attach The Hair To The Head? ...

Like This ,, Won't The Head Move And The Hair Just Stay At The Same Place? XD

  • what you have to do then is parent the follicles to the head mesh and they will move with it

  • Thank you very much for sharing this.

  • So what happens with the original sphere you applied the hair to? Can that be deleted once you have the hair on the actual geometry you want it on?

  • What you would have to do is remove the follicles on the sphere before deleting it or else it messes the hair system then you can delete them

  • @OmniCausticInfidel Thanks!

  • Thank you for this awesome vid, you are the man!

  • how do u chose where the hair is gonna go?

  • where ever you start the EP curve is the base of the hair follicle and the end of the curve is the tip
