He is 10, she is 16, and Sally often times acts as a bit of a guardian to Tails, causing him to give her the affectionate nickname of Aunt. She became his surrogate aunt possibly due do Tail's family being Roboticized when Robotnik took over Mobius along with many other characters' families. (His family is rarely if not mentioned at all, so its just a theory)
