ok i didnt kno these thing pound tho lol which amp would u think i should get for them i dont wont nothing that will blow my speaker...all i hear in my car is straight basssss
@Hellrell304 You are definatly going to need a bigger amp for these subs. This amp is only rated at 500 watts RMS and you need 1200 watts RMS for EACH sub. You are drastically underpowering your subs with these amps.
@GraffMast3r Yes, this is a perfect match. Each sub is 250 watts for a combined total of 500 which is exactly the power output of this amplifier at 2 ohms.
i have 2 kicker comp 12" subs 150 watts rms and 300 watts peck, do u think this amp would be too powerful for my subs because i like that amp but i dont wanna blow my subs out.... help!!!!!
@SonicElectronixTV would you recommend this to run a rockford fosgate P2D4-12? And since the sub it self is dual voice coil, does that mean when I hook it up to the amp that the amp will be running at an Impedence of 2 Ohms? Cheers :)
@Cooocharruuu Yes, it will be fine to run just one of these subwoofers on this amplifier. However, we would advise that you adjust the gain on your amplifier just a little bit to prevent blowing your subwoofer. You are also correct your amplifier will run at 2ohms in a Parallel wiring configuration.
Will this power 2 Fosgate P1S4-12 Punch P1 SVC 4 Ohm 12-Inch 250 Watts RMS 500 Watts Peak Subwoofers? And do you recommend sealed or ported for that set up?
@PompousBreadRolls Yes, this is a perfect match for these 2 subwoofers. If you are looking for overall increased bass capability then go with a ported box. If you are looking for more on the side of sound quality then sealed is probably your preference.
@LeGeNDaRY2846 If you have the Dual 4 ohm subs, then wire each one in parallel to a final impedance of 2 ohms and run them individually to each amplifier. If you have the Dual 2 ohm version subs then you will have to wire each sub in series to a final impedance of 4 ohms and run them individually to each amp. The problem here is that at 4 ohms final impedance you will under power the subs. However P3s are great and can take a little under powering, you just wont get the most out of them.
OMG i'm disspaointed.... when i push my 2 infinity 12's (300 rms each) hard (maybe 400rms), it goes into protect mode.... wtf man? it's also pretty hot.... i thought rockford fosgate was a good brand... i guess it's not...
i have 4 guage cables, ground is good and everything is fine
@acsixflags Yes that amp will over power that loaded enclosure, it will give each subwoofer 100W RMS more than recommended which could potentially cause the woofers to blow. You can always go with the P3L-S12, this loaded enclosure can be ran at 4 ohms on that PRIME R500-1 amplifier. Its just one subwoofer but its a P3 so it will have some bass to it.
ok i have this amp but i bought it from a buddy and he didnt have the plc remote does it give it a bigger boost if i have the bass control on the amp turned all the way up bc i dont wanna buy it if it dont make a difference
I bought this amp at a pawn shop for only $90. Best $90 I ever spent on an amp and is pushes my two JL audio 10w1 v2's just fine. Yes they are only W1 speakers, but I bought them at a pawn shop as well for only $70. In my opinion the 1 JL audio 10W1 sounded better than 2 Rockford P1 12's that I was also looking at. The only thing I would CAUTION you on is the amp heat...this sucker can get hawt 4 sure!
i got a 88 chevy silverrado (not much room behind the seat ) i was wonderin what subs i could get that could fit back there and still bump was thinkin maybe 4 10's or something like that any help would be great
@redbulladdiict I would suggest looking into the Alpine SWR-T12, Rockford Fosgate Punch P3SD212 , Pioneer TS-SW3001S4, or MTX Audio TT6512-04. These are all shallow mount subs that can handle 400 watts RMS so they will definitely pack a punch and since they are shallow they allow for easier installation in smaller areas. Also since they are shallow mount subs you can go with a 12" model and still be covering less space than a regular 10" subwoofer, you will have more surface area for more bass
@redbulladdiict I personally like the MTX subwoofers or Alpine subwoofers when it comes to shallow mount woofers. Honestly any of the ones I mentioned before will sound great. If you are more familiar with one company I would suggest going with that one since you will already have an idea of the quality of the company.
I have tow Kicker comp 15 inch 500watt 250 rms 4ohm. if I use parallel wiring to get it to be 2ohms instead of the series to make them 8ohm, will this amp be able to power the two subs (1000watt)?
@ssj7warrior Yes if you have 2 SVC 4 Ohm subs like the Kicker Comp 15, by wiring them in parallel you have final impedance of 2 ohms. Your total power out will be 500 watts RMS (250 for each sub), so yes the PRIME R500-1 will provide enough power to properly run the subwoofers. If you want to run a Kicker amplifier then go with the ZX500.1
What if I run the amp in a 4 ohm load? Because both of my subs are 8 ohm each..That would be 320 watts rms which should be good enough without having to blow them right?..
@SoToxsiK That's a perfect matchup practically. I didn't consider that you may have the 8 ohm models of the subwoofers. An extra 10 watts to a P1 isn't going to damage it in any way shape or form, so with that slight extra amplifier head room that will be a perfect matchup. Touché, SoToxsiK, Great mention!
@SoToxsiK The new 2011 Punch Stage 1's require 250W of RMS power, making this a perfect matchup. On the previous models, however this may bit a bit too much power for these woofers. Rockford is known for having subwoofers that are more durable than what they are rated at, so if you already have the equipment and want to try it, there's potential you can use this amp you'll just need to be very careful with setting your gains.
@bigdog813 The RCA style works a bit different by regulating the voltage of the RCA's. They're different than the phone cable type because they won't perform based on the amplifier feature. On the standard bass level control it will boost a specific frequency (usually around 40-45 Hz) when you adjust the bass knob. With these, it will actually regulate the voltage from the RCA's for different volumes. They work well.
First of all you guys rock i checked ur web site u sell this amp for $150 grate deal i have a 07 new body gmc crew cab i have a box but the mount depth is onley 5inch for 12 do u sell a box for two 12s with a 6inch mount depth i hate shallow mount subs dont sound good or do u know of a good sub with a 5inch mount pls get me back
@mitchellsealcoating Unfortunately we do not carry any enclosure with those dimensions for your vehicle. Our suggestion would be to either get one custom built or go with 2 shallow mount 12" subwoofers. Most regular subwoofers exceed the 5" mounting depth so it will be hard to find one that does not. If you do select to go with the shallow mount subwoofer I would say go with the MTXTT6512-04. In my opinion these are the best shallow mount subwoofers. They offer 400W RMS and sound great.
@HOODFIGGAPRODUCTIONS If you're considering the Pioneer Champion subwoofers with 1000W Max power, then it will make an OK matchup. It will not matchup well with the 1000W RMS models. The models that require 200W of RMS power is a great compatible matchup, however.
Plz help i have 08 gmc crew cab with the 2 12" down facing mounts i dont have much cash seen this amp for 140 on amazon will it push 2 shallow mounts pioneer or whats a ok sub for under 100 ty u guys rock
@mitchellsealcoating This amp will do 500W RMS at 2 ohm or 320W RMS at 4 ohms. Honestly there is many different configurations that will work with this amplifier. Do you have DVC or SVC subwoofers? are they 2 ohms or 4 ohms? If you have 2 Pioneer Shallow-Mount TS-SW301 then yes this amp will work. You will have a final impedance of 2 ohms after wiring the subwoofers in parallel, at which point you would run the amplifier at a 2 Ohm load.
i looked at that amp, and its a mono, but why does it has 2 channles? cuz i got 2 p1 15s svc 4ohm, and i was gonna wire them to 2ohm so i get all its power.
@ihitatree The reason that most monoblock amplifiers have multiple sets of speaker inputs is because they're designed to internally parallel your wiring if you haven't done it yourself. This is mostly designed to ease the wiring of DVC subwoofers, or for multiple SVC subwoofers. In your case, you can just wire each subwoofer to each set of speaker terminals and it will do all of the "paralleling" for you. Or you could just do it on your own and wire only one set of terminals, up to you!
@ihitatree Essentially yes this will work. You can wire each sub individually at which point the amplifier will internally parallel your subwoofers to a final impedance of 2 Ohms. Keep in mind that the total RMS at 2Oms will be equally distributed to the 2 subwoofers. So if you have 400W RMS at 2 Ohms, each sub will get 200W at 2 Ohms. Another option would be to wire the positive terminals on the subs together and then the same with the negative terminals. After that you go straight to the amp.
@2003HondaCR125R You may be new to sound systems, but sounds like you've been doing the right research so far! This amp would work very well with two Rockford P3SD210 shallow mount subwoofers. The subwoofers could handle around 600W of RMS power combined if you want to take full advantage of them, but running 500W is perfectly fine, and will sound great! Good luck with that install, keep in mind that the enclosure is extremely important so put some thought into it's design.
hi .. i have a rockford fosgate 12" t2d412 and i would like to hook it up to a rockford fosgate amp... which amp would you recommend?? i wanna be able to use all the power i cant get out off the sub but withuot blow it hehe
@adrianhhtorres Well you may be able to get away going with an amplifier like the T-1500bdCP. You'll be pushing an extra 300 watts of RMS power (or more) to the amplifier so you'll need to exercise extreme caution especially during the break-in period when tuning. After you've got it setup though it will sure bang! It's tough saying though because you can either go with a 1000 watt amp or this amp. I'd give Rockford techs a call and see if they would recommend a T1500bdCP or not.
I Have A Rockford Fosgate 12'' P3 Shallow Mount Powered By A Rockford Fosgate T-600 Amp. It Sounds Pretty Good But When It Gets Turned Up And The Bass Hits Real Hard The Sub Strats To Make A Poping Noise And I Was Wondering If Anybody Would Know Why It Was Doing This?????
@colossus57300 It should push a10" T1 subwoofer just fine. Bare in mind that the T1 can handle an extra 100 watts of RMS power without breaking a sweat, so if you want a little extra power output you should consider an amplifier capable of 600 watts of RMS power at 2 ohms. Either way, the T1 is a great option to go with, good choice!
@SonicElectronixTV i think thats enought power for my car i dont like it tooo loud but i love the wat your subs sound and looks im verry happy with the sub i got and hopefully it less forever hehe ...
and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANSWERING MY QUESTION :)
so does that mean instead of building the 4 @ 34hz box i should build the 2.6 @ 32 hz box?will the 32 hz sound better then 34 hz?i kinda only have one shot at this so i need to get it right the first time.thanks alot for the help!
@smokeiiit Looks like Rockford recommends the 2.66 @ 32 Hz design for their P3 15" sub. I'm not sure where the 4 cubic feet @ 34 Hz design is recommended, but since the User manual is specifying the 2.66 enclosure @ 32 Hz I would recommend that enclosure. It's a pretty big box for one sub! 28" Wide is going to take up a bit of room, but you'll surely enjoy the sound quality and SPL that the box will put out. It's always good to research an enclosure so no worries at all! Good luck assembling
@smokeiiit Go with a ported enclosure if you want to have it tuned to a specific frequency. Sealed boxes are not tuned to any frequency since they are completely sealed. Ported enclosures usually are better for overall bass output. Rockford Fosgate recommends the tuning frequency to be 32 Hz, I would recommend building an enclosure per their specifications to get the best possible bass response from the subwoofer.
i was going to by one of these from you guys on ebay until i was told that they over easy. i have a prime 250.1 pushing 2 jl 12w3 and they are rated at 250 rms and they just kill the amp ever time. so as for staying cool they dont
i have a ? im thinkin abot get a Rockford Fosgate PRIME R500-1 + Amp Kit and 2 JL Audio 10WX-4 Peak: 400 watts RMS: 200 watts . my ? is whats the watts on the PRIME R500-1 ? is it 500 watts im a lil new to all this .
@twistedjproductionz No worries. It can be confusing sometimes as a lot of manufacturers will call an amplifier the "5000D" or something when it really pushes 1500 watts or something along those lines, so it can be confusing. Rockford Fosgate, however is a CEA compliant manufacturer and produce their amplifiers with high standards. You'll get 500 watts at 2 ohms with that Prime amplifier, so it will feed each subwoofer an extra 50 watts over their RMS rating.
@big81drew We don't have much information on the subwoofers, such as their RMS power handling and if they are single or dual voice coil. Based on a bit of research it looks like each subwoofer handles 500 watts of RMS power. This Rockford Fosgate amplifier is only capable of pushing 500 watts of RMS power, so you will be underpowering the subwoofers a bit. You may want to consider an amplifier capable of more power, such as 800-1000 watts of RMS power handling, if the subs are properly rated.
@SonicElectronixTV thx.. so if i use the setup i have, will something go wrong? and also what if i bought the Rockford Fosgate R1L-2X10 and used that instead?
@big81drew If you use the setup as is you you could send clipped signals to the subwoofers since you are underpowering them. Clipped signals and distortion, when played loudly can blow a subwoofer. But you also have to consider that the subwoofers might be over-rated and won't have a problem playing with half of the power. It can be a gamble setting up subwoofers in a lot of circumstances, so you may want to research the manufacturer of the subwoofer to see how well they rate their product.
@SonicElectronixTV thx man.. i finally set up those legacy predator (LPW1099) sub woofers and they sound nice in this box i have with plexi glass in the front.. it actually sounded good with just one of em connected so i might leave it with just one but ima need a box for a single woofer now.. any suggestions?
@big81drew I would say go with a ported enclosure since you seem to want the subs to hit hard and loud. I suggest going with the 1SV10-Black, it is pretty affordable and a solid enclosure. If you want tighter bass and more responsive bass go with a sealed enclosure , I recommend the 1SL10-1.0 this also is a very affordable enclosure and is solid and of good quality.
i've got this amp hooked up to a rockford p3d415 and its at about half power due to it just being installed...it knocks. All of my friends have car audio systems (the best being two kicker L7s with 1000 watts each) and this setup compares very well for it being entry level and my first system.
@TheKentuckyboy101 That would be a perfect setup. An extra 10 watts towards each Comp isn't going to damage it in the slightest bit. Kicker Comp subwoofers are underrated and can handle more wattage than their specified to, so you can always throw an extra 50 watts here and there. That should be an exceptional matchup, so good luck with the installation!
@HughesR1990 You can run the JL Audio 10W3v3-4 which is the 4 Ohm model efficiently off of this amplifier. Also, you'll have room to expand since the amplifier can even push more power at 2 Ohms. If you get this setup and it's not quite enough bass for you, you can always throw in another 10W3 without having to upgrade your amplifier.
@HughesR1990 I wouldn't recommend using this amplifier along with the 2 Ohm model of the 10" JL Audio W3. It would power 200 watts over JL Audio's recommended power and it may burn the coils a lot quicker. JL Audio subwoofers aren't the type you want to overpower. They're awesome and sound great, but if you're looking to overpower them a bit you might want to consider a Kicker or MTX Audio subwoofer.
@CFourClan They're both pretty sweet amplifiers and will work perfectly with one Dual 4 Ohm Alpine Type R. Comparing the two, the Rockford Fosgate amplifier may get you a bit extra wattage since they're under rated. However, if you're looking to just get the 500 watts at an affordable price, I would consider the Kenwood amplifier.
@s0lefreshhh23 If you buy the Dual 4 Ohm model of the Rockford Fosgate P3 you'll have a perfect matchup along with the R500-1 amplifier. Great choice! This sub certainly gets loud!
@iTavaris You would be powering slightly less than the RMS, and you would be at risk of clipping your subs a bit with this underpowering. You might want to consider a slightly larger amplifier, that's capable of 700-1000 watts of RMS power if you're interested in the Alpine 12" Type R's. Give us a call at 1-877-289-7664 or send us an e-mail if you'd like a list of recommendations.
Im thinking of getting it but can it push 4 12's.... I have 2 mtx's and 2 kicker comps... I know this is bad to do but its only temporary... Right now I have them hooked up to a 400w Blaupunkt monoblock amp and they do fine but I just want to upgrade a little... Also can it push 2 15 Kicker Comps?? Thats my next upgrade as well...
@astrid23rivera It can overpower one CVR very nicely. Each CVR requires 400W RMS. This amp totals 500W RMS. To power TWO CVR's you need an amplifier that can push 800W RMS roughly. The Kicker ZX750.1 is a great amplifier to push two Dual 2 Ohm CVR's. Check out our user forums for feedback from car audio enthusiasts. We have tons of users posting every day!!
@SonicElectronixTV well my cuzin gave me the 2 12's and i needed an amp but i dont kno much about amps and subs that much so i just got this amp cuz i pushed 500w. so would you recommand me buying another amp. or can this one work ,not fine but good enough you kno??
@Metaliica474921 Yeah. If the terminal doesn't unscrew as much as you'd like, I'd recommend using spade terminals to help. Short answer - yes you can use 4 gauge.
I was thinking about getting a single rockford fosgate p3 15" dual 4 ohm sub rated at 500rms, would this amp be a good choice for that if i want to run it at a 2 ohm load?
@PocketlintBandit Indeed it would be a perfect matchup. Since the 12" and 15" are both 500W RMS, this amp would be a perfect matchup for 12" and 15" Rockford Fosgate P3 woofers, that are Dual 4 ohm.
@kevin10r It's perfect for that woofer. You need to ensure that you have the Dual 4 Ohm version, so you can wire in parallel to reach a final impedance of 2 Ohms.
@SonicElectronixTV hi i have one question i just into the car audio stuff so im a newbie and i have this amp connected to one rockford fosgate 10" P2 SUBWOOFER that says nomial impedance: dual 4 ohm but i only have one speaker wire runing from the amp to the subwoofer and my subwoofer has two conections two positive and two negative do i have it connected good or not.
@06240000 Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this amplifier and subwoofer match up, as you're over or under powering the woofer. The two positive, and two negative connections you are talking about are each of the voice coils connections. You have one way to wire that amplifier, for a car audio setup, connect both positives to the positive terminal on the amp, and connect both negatives to the negative terminal on the amplifier. This will push 500W into that P2, which will blow the speaker.
I have a friend that has one of these amps ( Not that exact one) that powers 2 15's and it bangs. I got the vid on my page if you wanna see it but just sayin I kinda like these amps
Can i run a kicker cvt 12 and a pair of 6x9s on this amp?
beastgrizz 2 days ago in playlist Product Reviews
@beastgrizz No, this would not be possible. It would be better to get a monblock for the CVT and a 2 channel for your speakers.

LeGeNDaRY2846 5 months ago
@LeGeNDaRY2846 If you have the Dual 4 ohm subs, then wire each one in parallel to a final impedance of 2 ohms and run them individually to each amplifier. If you have the Dual 2 ohm version subs then you will have to wire each sub in series to a final impedance of 4 ohms and run them individually to each amp. The problem here is that at 4 ohms final impedance you will under power the subs. However P3s are great and can take a little under powering, you just wont get the most out of them.

SonicElectronixTV 8 months ago
prime suck
QuranGoodman43 9 months ago
What if I run the amp in a 4 ohm load? Because both of my subs are 8 ohm each..That would be 320 watts rms which should be good enough without having to blow them right?..
SoToxsiK 9 months ago
@SoToxsiK That's a perfect matchup practically. I didn't consider that you may have the 8 ohm models of the subwoofers. An extra 10 watts to a P1 isn't going to damage it in any way shape or form, so with that slight extra amplifier head room that will be a perfect matchup. Touché, SoToxsiK, Great mention!
SonicElectronixTV 9 months ago
Would this amp be good enough for 2 Rockford Fosgate P1s? Or too much power?..
SoToxsiK 9 months ago
@SoToxsiK The new 2011 Punch Stage 1's require 250W of RMS power, making this a perfect matchup. On the previous models, however this may bit a bit too much power for these woofers. Rockford is known for having subwoofers that are more durable than what they are rated at, so if you already have the equipment and want to try it, there's potential you can use this amp you'll just need to be very careful with setting your gains.

I have a hifonics amp with no bass nob will a RCA versions work just as well as the usual phone cable type connection bass nobs
bigdog813 9 months ago
@bigdog813 The RCA style works a bit different by regulating the voltage of the RCA's. They're different than the phone cable type because they won't perform based on the amplifier feature. On the standard bass level control it will boost a specific frequency (usually around 40-45 Hz) when you adjust the bass knob. With these, it will actually regulate the voltage from the RCA's for different volumes. They work well.

First of all you guys rock i checked ur web site u sell this amp for $150 grate deal i have a 07 new body gmc crew cab i have a box but the mount depth is onley 5inch for 12 do u sell a box for two 12s with a 6inch mount depth i hate shallow mount subs dont sound good or do u know of a good sub with a 5inch mount pls get me back
mitchellsealcoating 9 months ago
@mitchellsealcoating Unfortunately we do not carry any enclosure with those dimensions for your vehicle. Our suggestion would be to either get one custom built or go with 2 shallow mount 12" subwoofers. Most regular subwoofers exceed the 5" mounting depth so it will be hard to find one that does not. If you do select to go with the shallow mount subwoofer I would say go with the MTXTT6512-04. In my opinion these are the best shallow mount subwoofers. They offer 400W RMS and sound great.

HOODFIGGAPRODUCTIONS 9 months ago
would this amp be able to pick up 3 pioneer 12 inc subs each one is 1000 watts
HOODFIGGAPRODUCTIONS 9 months ago
@HOODFIGGAPRODUCTIONS If you're considering the Pioneer Champion subwoofers with 1000W Max power, then it will make an OK matchup. It will not matchup well with the 1000W RMS models. The models that require 200W of RMS power is a great compatible matchup, however.
SonicElectronixTV 9 months ago
Plz help i have 08 gmc crew cab with the 2 12" down facing mounts i dont have much cash seen this amp for 140 on amazon will it push 2 shallow mounts pioneer or whats a ok sub for under 100 ty u guys rock
mitchellsealcoating 9 months ago
@mitchellsealcoating This amp will do 500W RMS at 2 ohm or 320W RMS at 4 ohms. Honestly there is many different configurations that will work with this amplifier. Do you have DVC or SVC subwoofers? are they 2 ohms or 4 ohms? If you have 2 Pioneer Shallow-Mount TS-SW301 then yes this amp will work. You will have a final impedance of 2 ohms after wiring the subwoofers in parallel, at which point you would run the amplifier at a 2 Ohm load.
SonicElectronixTV 9 months ago
i looked at that amp, and its a mono, but why does it has 2 channles? cuz i got 2 p1 15s svc 4ohm, and i was gonna wire them to 2ohm so i get all its power.
ihitatree 10 months ago
@ihitatree The reason that most monoblock amplifiers have multiple sets of speaker inputs is because they're designed to internally parallel your wiring if you haven't done it yourself. This is mostly designed to ease the wiring of DVC subwoofers, or for multiple SVC subwoofers. In your case, you can just wire each subwoofer to each set of speaker terminals and it will do all of the "paralleling" for you. Or you could just do it on your own and wire only one set of terminals, up to you!
SonicElectronixTV 10 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV so if i hooked each (svc 4ohm) sub up separatly, it would give the amp a 2ohm load so i get all the power?
ihitatree 10 months ago
@ihitatree Essentially yes this will work. You can wire each sub individually at which point the amplifier will internally parallel your subwoofers to a final impedance of 2 Ohms. Keep in mind that the total RMS at 2Oms will be equally distributed to the 2 subwoofers. So if you have 400W RMS at 2 Ohms, each sub will get 200W at 2 Ohms. Another option would be to wire the positive terminals on the subs together and then the same with the negative terminals. After that you go straight to the amp.

im new to sound systems but, would this be able to push 2 Rockford Fosgate P3SD210?
2003HondaCR125R 10 months ago
@2003HondaCR125R You may be new to sound systems, but sounds like you've been doing the right research so far! This amp would work very well with two Rockford P3SD210 shallow mount subwoofers. The subwoofers could handle around 600W of RMS power combined if you want to take full advantage of them, but running 500W is perfectly fine, and will sound great! Good luck with that install, keep in mind that the enclosure is extremely important so put some thought into it's design.

hi .. i have a rockford fosgate 12" t2d412 and i would like to hook it up to a rockford fosgate amp... which amp would you recommend?? i wanna be able to use all the power i cant get out off the sub but withuot blow it hehe
adrianhhtorres 10 months ago

Bloomy124 10 months ago
is that amp enough to push a 10" T1 ??
colossus57300 10 months ago
@colossus57300 It should push a10" T1 subwoofer just fine. Bare in mind that the T1 can handle an extra 100 watts of RMS power without breaking a sweat, so if you want a little extra power output you should consider an amplifier capable of 600 watts of RMS power at 2 ohms. Either way, the T1 is a great option to go with, good choice!

@SonicElectronixTV i think thats enought power for my car i dont like it tooo loud but i love the wat your subs sound and looks im verry happy with the sub i got and hopefully it less forever hehe ...

so does that mean instead of building the 4 @ 34hz box i should build the 2.6 @ 32 hz box?will the 32 hz sound better then 34 hz?i kinda only have one shot at this so i need to get it right the first time.thanks alot for the help!
smokeiiit 11 months ago
@smokeiiit Looks like Rockford recommends the 2.66 @ 32 Hz design for their P3 15" sub. I'm not sure where the 4 cubic feet @ 34 Hz design is recommended, but since the User manual is specifying the 2.66 enclosure @ 32 Hz I would recommend that enclosure. It's a pretty big box for one sub! 28" Wide is going to take up a bit of room, but you'll surely enjoy the sound quality and SPL that the box will put out. It's always good to research an enclosure so no worries at all! Good luck assembling
SonicElectronixTV 11 months ago
would this amp go well with 1 p3d415?and what kind of box should i use?and what should the box be tuned at to get the most out of my p3 15?
smokeiiit 11 months ago
@smokeiiit Go with a ported enclosure if you want to have it tuned to a specific frequency. Sealed boxes are not tuned to any frequency since they are completely sealed. Ported enclosures usually are better for overall bass output. Rockford Fosgate recommends the tuning frequency to be 32 Hz, I would recommend building an enclosure per their specifications to get the best possible bass response from the subwoofer.

i have a ? im thinkin abot get a Rockford Fosgate PRIME R500-1 + Amp Kit and 2 JL Audio 10WX-4 Peak: 400 watts RMS: 200 watts . my ? is whats the watts on the PRIME R500-1 ? is it 500 watts im a lil new to all this .
twistedjproductionz 1 year ago
@twistedjproductionz No worries. It can be confusing sometimes as a lot of manufacturers will call an amplifier the "5000D" or something when it really pushes 1500 watts or something along those lines, so it can be confusing. Rockford Fosgate, however is a CEA compliant manufacturer and produce their amplifiers with high standards. You'll get 500 watts at 2 ohms with that Prime amplifier, so it will feed each subwoofer an extra 50 watts over their RMS rating.

i have this amp and 2 legacy predator subs 4 ohms 1000 watts, but i didnt set it up yet.. Is this a good match?
big81drew 1 year ago
@big81drew We don't have much information on the subwoofers, such as their RMS power handling and if they are single or dual voice coil. Based on a bit of research it looks like each subwoofer handles 500 watts of RMS power. This Rockford Fosgate amplifier is only capable of pushing 500 watts of RMS power, so you will be underpowering the subwoofers a bit. You may want to consider an amplifier capable of more power, such as 800-1000 watts of RMS power handling, if the subs are properly rated.
SonicElectronixTV 1 year ago
@SonicElectronixTV thx.. so if i use the setup i have, will something go wrong? and also what if i bought the Rockford Fosgate R1L-2X10 and used that instead?
big81drew 1 year ago
@big81drew If you use the setup as is you you could send clipped signals to the subwoofers since you are underpowering them. Clipped signals and distortion, when played loudly can blow a subwoofer. But you also have to consider that the subwoofers might be over-rated and won't have a problem playing with half of the power. It can be a gamble setting up subwoofers in a lot of circumstances, so you may want to research the manufacturer of the subwoofer to see how well they rate their product.
SonicElectronixTV 1 year ago
@SonicElectronixTV thx man.. i finally set up those legacy predator (LPW1099) sub woofers and they sound nice in this box i have with plexi glass in the front.. it actually sounded good with just one of em connected so i might leave it with just one but ima need a box for a single woofer now.. any suggestions?
big81drew 4 months ago
@big81drew I would say go with a ported enclosure since you seem to want the subs to hit hard and loud. I suggest going with the 1SV10-Black, it is pretty affordable and a solid enclosure. If you want tighter bass and more responsive bass go with a sealed enclosure , I recommend the 1SL10-1.0 this also is a very affordable enclosure and is solid and of good quality.

i've got this amp hooked up to a rockford p3d415 and its at about half power due to it just being installed...it knocks. All of my friends have car audio systems (the best being two kicker L7s with 1000 watts each) and this setup compares very well for it being entry level and my first system.

what do you think about running this amp with 2 comp 10's at 4 ohms?
i know it over powers a little, but i need an expert opinion..
TheKentuckyboy101 1 year ago
@TheKentuckyboy101 That would be a perfect setup. An extra 10 watts towards each Comp isn't going to damage it in the slightest bit. Kicker Comp subwoofers are underrated and can handle more wattage than their specified to, so you can always throw an extra 50 watts here and there. That should be an exceptional matchup, so good luck with the installation!

what about a jl 10w3? and if so a 2 ohm or 4 ohm?
HughesR1990 1 year ago
@HughesR1990 You can run the JL Audio 10W3v3-4 which is the 4 Ohm model efficiently off of this amplifier. Also, you'll have room to expand since the amplifier can even push more power at 2 Ohms. If you get this setup and it's not quite enough bass for you, you can always throw in another 10W3 without having to upgrade your amplifier.
SonicElectronixTV 1 year ago
@SonicElectronixTV would the 2 ohm model of the 10W3V3 be too much?

@SonicElectronixTV would the 2 ohm model of the 10W3V3 be too much?
HughesR1990 1 year ago
@SonicElectronixTV what about the two ohm model?
HughesR1990 1 year ago
@HughesR1990 I wouldn't recommend using this amplifier along with the 2 Ohm model of the 10" JL Audio W3. It would power 200 watts over JL Audio's recommended power and it may burn the coils a lot quicker. JL Audio subwoofers aren't the type you want to overpower. They're awesome and sound great, but if you're looking to overpower them a bit you might want to consider a Kicker or MTX Audio subwoofer.

Hey i was wondering if i should get this amp or the Kenwood KAC-8105D to power one Alpine Type R??
CFourClan 1 year ago
@CFourClan They're both pretty sweet amplifiers and will work perfectly with one Dual 4 Ohm Alpine Type R. Comparing the two, the Rockford Fosgate amplifier may get you a bit extra wattage since they're under rated. However, if you're looking to just get the 500 watts at an affordable price, I would consider the Kenwood amplifier.

s0lefreshhh23 1 year ago
@s0lefreshhh23 If you buy the Dual 4 Ohm model of the Rockford Fosgate P3 you'll have a perfect matchup along with the R500-1 amplifier. Great choice! This sub certainly gets loud!
SonicElectronixTV 1 year ago
Would this be a good amp for 2 12" Type-R's?
iTavaris 1 year ago
@iTavaris You would be powering slightly less than the RMS, and you would be at risk of clipping your subs a bit with this underpowering. You might want to consider a slightly larger amplifier, that's capable of 700-1000 watts of RMS power if you're interested in the Alpine 12" Type R's. Give us a call at 1-877-289-7664 or send us an e-mail if you'd like a list of recommendations.

06crf250rrider 1 year ago
@06crf250rrider You're slightly under powering the 12" Kicker L7.
That sub wants around 750W RMS, so you're pushing roughly 250W RMS less than the subwoofer really wants.

can this amp power 2 12 cvr kickers?
astrid23rivera 1 year ago
@astrid23rivera It can overpower one CVR very nicely. Each CVR requires 400W RMS. This amp totals 500W RMS. To power TWO CVR's you need an amplifier that can push 800W RMS roughly. The Kicker ZX750.1 is a great amplifier to push two Dual 2 Ohm CVR's. Check out our user forums for feedback from car audio enthusiasts. We have tons of users posting every day!!

@PocketlintBandit Indeed it would be a perfect matchup. Since the 12" and 15" are both 500W RMS, this amp would be a perfect matchup for 12" and 15" Rockford Fosgate P3 woofers, that are Dual 4 ohm.

kevin10r 1 year ago
@kevin10r It's perfect for that woofer. You need to ensure that you have the Dual 4 Ohm version, so you can wire in parallel to reach a final impedance of 2 Ohms.
SonicElectronixTV 1 year ago
@SonicElectronixTV hi i have one question i just into the car audio stuff so im a newbie and i have this amp connected to one rockford fosgate 10" P2 SUBWOOFER that says nomial impedance: dual 4 ohm but i only have one speaker wire runing from the amp to the subwoofer and my subwoofer has two conections two positive and two negative do i have it connected good or not.
06240000 1 year ago
@06240000 Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this amplifier and subwoofer match up, as you're over or under powering the woofer. The two positive, and two negative connections you are talking about are each of the voice coils connections. You have one way to wire that amplifier, for a car audio setup, connect both positives to the positive terminal on the amp, and connect both negatives to the negative terminal on the amplifier. This will push 500W into that P2, which will blow the speaker.
