I found out my little brother is going to have a cleft palate. My other brother & i had went with my dad and step mom to the doctors' that day.... I held my step mom the whole ride home. she was sooo upset but videos like this& operation smile has helped re-assure her. Thank you(:

I was shocked, sad, angry, you name it and i've been through the emotions. This doesn't run in either family and we were just clueless about how it could have happened. After watching videos and doing research, i've found a wonderful peace and positive attitude. I'm so excited to meet my baby!!

I am a 16 year old boy from Norway. I have the cleft palate and lip. Cleft lip on the left side. I looked at a pretty new picture of me today. Knowing that I'm not so good looking, I was thinking well can't have any expectations. I looked at the picture, and I saw that my nose are very assymetrical to my lip. I also saw that my eyes are very different. I hate my look. I have been wondering if its possible to do any surgeries to improve my looks? Nose and eyes are most important.

My son was bron n OCT 2003 wit same cleft lp & palate but he didnt get the tape on mouth or the retainer like your son he done had 10 surgeries since Dec 2003. He jus got a palate expander about 2 months ago we got bac this week an should be done wit the key an we will ge4t the go ahead to get next surgery.
he is so adorable! my heart goes out to you! I was born with the exact same thing! I am grown however, but I know from what my mother told me that it was really hard, feeding etc with this.. but nothing that anyone cant overcome! wish you the best of care!!! :O)

Watching these videos, it was brought to my attention that some cleft lip cases also have hearing issues....just curious, my daughter is due in JUNE and she has a bi-lateral cleft lip and palate, and we've seen 4 doctors, none of which has mentioned anything about hearing issues....THANKS Congratulations too on one beautiful boy.

Nice Vid. Here in south africa we don't use the plate system anymore, we just use the one step repair at 4 months. Karlie My daughter had a 6mm unilateral cleft lip and cleft of hard and soft as wide as 8mm. At 4 months she had her op. She is now 11 mnhs but has developed a fistula so will be having another op in april. Anyway great vid thanks
