Hello everyone, just wanted to say thanks again for watching my video and all the nice comments, im on deployment right now on the Lincoln and we just stopped in Bahrain and I appreciate all the support...
First of all, GO NAVY! Just got out, was an LS, was fun while it lasted but 5 years is enough fun! Anyways, I am about to get one like this, thinking about getting a blue one. Just bought the wife a 2012 Elantra, we love it but I still wanna go cheaper so the Accent is the way to go. Gonna be going to the Accent from a 2008 Dodge Ram quad cab with the HEMI... There MIGHT be a few differences LOL! Also good luck on you're deployment!
He's protecting his wallet and not asking to be bailed out by creditors. He's also not making up for anything with that car. Military intelligence does exist people. Thank you sir for your efforts on all fronts. A respectful, polite young man who gets it! Ladies keep a watch on this guy before your time runs out.
Hey bro ,I have a Accent 2012 too, I just debadge my car too, just order the GDI Badge on ebay, Teint the windows, install HID, I was just wandering where you bought the antenna. ? :P look freaaking cool !!!
Hey, great video, and thank you for your service. Are you still happy with the Accent? I'm looking at new cars, and am thinking about the 2012 Accent.
@brads448 yes , very happy. Still getting around 40mpg highway , and I also have added some mods .... got a new shorter antenna which makes it look a lot better , and replaced the accent lettering on the back with a red GDI badge ( ordered it off ebay) .. thinking about getting a short ram air intake when i get back from deployment next year
Hey mate, you mentioned taking the decal off on the back. Can you explain exactly how you did this? I'd like to do the same thing to my Accent (currently on order - 3 weeks to go)
I'm getting the exact one in two weeks, same color and everything. This review was really helpful, and I might consider taking off the 'Accent' label too. Thanks (:
looks very nice, Check out KDMstuff or Koreanautoimports for aftermarket stuff, im pretty sure they don't have any stuff for it yet since the car is so new but they probably will soon.
@ladyyuna2000 just drove 100 miles to my house in ahaheim from san diego and was doing about 70-80 the whole way , averaged 42 mpg and couldnt even notice how fast i was going
@grap951 What's the performance like on the highway? Did you have to rev the nuts off the engine to speed up from 40mph to 70mph? Did you test drive the accent 5 door and the elantra? Why did u choose the accent sedan over the 5 door version? Don't usually need extra cargo room or can't see out of the 5 door's small rear window? Why did u choose the accent sedan over the elantra sedan? You didn't need a larger sedan with luxury features or did the accent better suit your needs? Thanx.
@betatalk357 performance on the highway is great .... the power comes in over 3500 rpms ..... im usually at around 2500 rpm's doing 70-80 ........ i chose the accent cause it was a couple thousand cheaper, and im on a tight budget ...and the cargo room is great , and you can fold down the rear seat for more room ..... if you have the money though id go with the elantra just cause i like the looks a little better ,
@grap951 Thanks for letting me know about your Accent; I was thinking about getting a fully loaded Accent GLS or a Veloster. The Accent is a good "sporty, yet cheap and cheerful" sedan with hints of a luxury sedan. Believe it or not, I saw a $13 grand "no frills" Accent with manual locks/ windows, stickshift, and no radio. The Elantra is the "luxury" version of the Accent, with front and rear heated seats, rearview camera, and navigation.
@grap951 But just like the Accent, the Elantra is also a good car. But for 6 grand more than a fully loaded Accent, you can have a fully loaded 3 door sports car, the Veloster. The Veloster is a good car for kids these days with sharp and sporty niches and geared to the technology driven kids with voice activated navigation, voice activated bluetooth with text messaging, flappy paddle shifters, 115V adapter for gaming consoles/ cell phone chargers, and USB port like the Accent.
@grap951 My only pet peeve about the Veloster is I know the Veloster was supposed to be a 2 door sports car, and the rear opening door on the right hand side allows better access to the rear seat, but why didn't they add a rear door to the driver's side? It didn't ruin the sporty look of the car and anyone sitting behind the driver better not feel cramped or need a bathroom in a hurry on a long drive.
@grap951 Yep, it's said it'll have the same engine in it now, only turbo charged. They kept the same engine because not only is it a good engine, but it cuts down on the cost to make a new engine, which is one of the reasons why they can afford to have their cars priced much lower than its rivals. It's rumored it'll develop 200bhp and will be available next year.
@grap951 Going back to the Accent, one of the reasons why this car performs good and gets good mpg is the good power to weight ratio. This car weighs 2,400 lbs with 138bhp. That goes out to 57.5bhp per 1/2 ton. A 27 grand Dodge Avnger R/T weighs 3,200 lbs and has 273bhp, but only develops 85.31 bhp per 1/2 ton. An extra 10 grand, a bigger engine and a few more options than an Accent (most that are never used any way), and all it develops is 27.81bhp per 1/2 ton extra.
@grap951 Would you believe the inspiration to develop good Pacific Rim cars (Korean, Maylasian) came from Top Gear UK's Jeremy Clarkson smashing up a Perodua Kalisa, calling it "unimaginitive junk"? A few years back, Top Gear UK also slammed Pacific Rim car makers like Hyundai, Kia, Proton, Perodua, and Daewoo (now Chevrolet). The Kia Rio they test drove was awful, but the Hyundai Accent diesel they determined was even worse with a no-power 3 cylinder diesel.
@grap951 Fast forward to today, Hyundai and Kia have made many changes. Kia has now redesigned the Rio with a sporty appeal and a 200bhp turbo charged engine, and you know the story with the new Accent. They saw the light, and is making sensible cars catering to people who want a reliable, decent car for a reasonable price. Well done, Hyundai!
I just test-drove a 6sp manual today and these things are pretty peppy! I've got my order in for a GLS and it should be here by next week! Hoping for White or Blue, but I'll take Black or Charcoal! (I didn't specify a color to them.)
It looks really good with the badge removed too! I'm probably doing that the first chance I can!
I'll take some vid of mine when I get it with my GoPro and do some driving shots! :)
Good review. Short and honest. I thought the Elantra looked great, but I'm liking the Accent more and more. Yours looks great. good job with the de-badge and tint. Thank you again for all that you do everyday for our country!
@jujuchag ya man the hatches look really nice , especially in black .. i have now about 3000 miles on it and its def. one of the best cars i have ever had
@winterreaction the back 3 windows are all limo tint (darkest you can go) , and the front 2 are the darkest i could go in california and still be legal , i think its 30%, thanks for the comment !
beautiful car! I've been looking into getting this car for a while now. Did you get the tinted windows done at the dealer? If so, around how much was it?
Love the tint work, looking to do the same on my 2012 Accent. Have the Cyclone Grey one. Also looks sweet with the Accent taken off the back. Sound post a video on how you did that ;)
@echomatics honestly it took me about 10-15 minutes ,,, leave it out in the sun for a couple hours , and just spray some goo gone behind the letters , than get some tooth floss and put it behind the letters and it cuts right through the adhesive , than i just picked the adhesive off with my fingers , since the car is new it wont damage the paint so dont even worry about it
Also love the debadge and tinted windows make it look really clean. Lastly wanted to salute and thank you for doing what you do to protect our country!
