You can criticize Oliver Stone all you want for his lack of restraint or his pretentiousness but that's exactly what this material needs, a lack of restraint. To his credit, he is one of the few filmmakers that has made a musical biography that has ever tried to get to the essence of the music itself. By the way, this movie is much more enjoyable under some kind of intoxication. Right now, I'm drunk, just like I imagine Jim would be if he's somewhere in body or in spirit.
