even though its probably more practicle for it to shoot 1 round at a time i think that the only way i would want a gun like this is if it shot all 2 or 4 barrles at once!
i would rather use it as a last ditch all or nothing effort than ever trust my life to it.
plus if you could push a 4 round derringer into an attackers stomach and blow all 4 barrels at once it would be like a cannon!
I just got the same thing yesterday and took it straight to the range it kicks like a mule , but works great . I'm going to carry mine in my knee brace for back up for my backup
Got a pocket holster made for it, slips right in my front pocket.
In all seriousness this isn't the type of gun you use to exchange shots from across the street, it's to be used like the NAA mini-revolver (a "get off me" gun).
I've had this gun for 15 years now. I still love it to this day, it was my first gun. I keep it in my pocket at all times, and thats another reason why i love it. Great gun for personal defense. :)
They would be good to carry in the watch pocket of a 3 point suit vest. In "bad neighborhoods" at best you could hit them ANYWHERE and create noise. I know this may not sound good to my fellow gun owners but the facts are 1.you may not be able to use it in your defense 2. It CAN make the bad worst
Is that one of those cheapo Cobra's? I was thinking of picking up a 9mm Cobra Firearms derringer from the pawn shop in my area for about $85, but It felt kinda flimsy compared to my little RECK .22 w.m.r..
@gunman848 I have one AND IT TAKES 2 FINGERS to pull it down it sound to me like it take 12-15 pounds of force and only good at point blank range but you could blow a hole inside someones had bigger than a old dollar coin.Protection only. (i recomend shooting it at close range about 10 feet
@loganbass10 I broke down and bought one a few weeks ago......and i LOVE it. the trigger pull is pretty heavy if you dont pull it write, but if you position your hand to where you have one finger on the grip, and pull the trigger at the bottom, it's about an 8 lb pull. i can hit a man at 35 feet no prob, thanks, nice vid and nice gun.
I have one of these, and it's great. I use Hornady Critical Defense rounds in it. Within 10-15 feet, it's deadly accurate and it DOES make a good CCW weapon, especially considering you can put it in your pants pocket and nobody would ever know. 99.9% of all aggressive encounters occur within 10 feet, so 2 shots of a good hollow-point ammo at that range will take just about anybody down.
Oh, and they are rifled, weed2normal. There just isn't much of it due to the short barrel.
Look guys these guns are strictly made for protection (i have one myself and mines more rare) but its not suppose to shoot that far there only good for about 25 feet and Its verry unaccurate if shot farther.
whoa dude never dry fire any gun especially the derringer b/c the fireing pin can break and the gun will b useless just whoa my heart friggin dropped when u did that
@herrgunlovert Dry firing modern firearms is perfectly acceptable and safe. Only poorly manufactured guns (this could be, I dont know for sure), old guns, and some rimfires are bad to dry fire. Get with the program- its 2010.
@GunWebsites yeah, I can't imagine using this even for a CCW. Maybe if I were a cop and wanted a backup, but there are so many good .380's that are small and lightweight with larger capacities than this, I'd probably go with one of them. I guess it MIGHT make a decent car gun if you're really worried about carjackers, LOL
@davism4a1 If there is excess headspace the hammer will strike the firing pin and the firing pin will just push the cartridge forward. With the firing pin already pushed forward, snapping the barrels closed can cause detonation, unless the chamber has too much headspace and the cartridge is just pushed borward.
Kids, never buy bone of these unless it has a hammer block safety . Keep the hammer at half cockuntil you are ready to fire it. The firing pin spring is strong enough that when the hammer is down and one of the firing pins is pushed forward, it will detonate the round when you close the barrel. People take these to the bars and after a few drinks have to show them off. Mine had little flecks of dried blood on it when I bought it and I bet I know why. Shooters must keep their wits about them.
That looked rather uncomfortable to aim, and shot. Those small pistols often are. Also, with a short barrel, I am not suprized you missed at that range. Still great fun though I am sure. Happy shooting.
At the Nra museum they have a derringer with 4 barrels. If If i remember it had 4 hammers and 1 trigger no clue if it could shoot all in one pull. Used to me cutting technology. lol
Is she going to be on campus? most collages do not allow even a decent knife in the dorms. A Derringer is also a bit outdated, but is cheaper then most, small, and better then nothing when things are bad. I do not know how much expernce your daughter has with firearms either. Hope you can get her something that will make you both feel a bit better.
She lives off campus in her own apartment all alone. She has a S&W 642 for her apartment, but where she lives i'd feel better if she had some sort of protection in her car. I would just feel safer knowing there's two rounds in the middle consol if she needed them. P.S She's turning 21 in a month so she's gonna get a conceal carry permit, and she shoots better than most of the men i know
S&W 642 is accualy a rather good revolver, and small enough to carry. Other good carry options are Kel-tex P32 and P3AT (the one I use), Ruger LCP and LCR, Beretta Bobcat in .32 or .25, and there are just to many to list here. If it is going to stay in the car though, you may want to go a bit larger, and therefore easier to use. Remember, Derringer only have 2 rounds, and a very slow reload, but it will be better then having nothing. If you want more help making a decition, contact me.

julsmul 2 years ago
not accurate at all, you're better off aiming at anything BUT the target!
gksk8monk 2 years ago
as gksk8monk said, they are not accurate
Anyone can practice and get good with these (or anything really) but that doesn't make the machine more useful to anyone else
IMO these are novelty and collectible not so much defense or range guns

I see he had the hammer all the way down when he closed this gun. Makes me wonder if his gun has excess headspace.
april231953 2 years ago
I have no idea, Why would the headspace matter to the hammer position
GunWebsites 2 years ago 2
@april231953 what does the hammer have to do with headspace at all?
davism4a1 1 year ago
@davism4a1 If there is excess headspace the hammer will strike the firing pin and the firing pin will just push the cartridge forward. With the firing pin already pushed forward, snapping the barrels closed can cause detonation, unless the chamber has too much headspace and the cartridge is just pushed borward.
april231953 1 year ago
@april231953 No. The firing pins are spring loaded and inertia activated. These pistols are no more or less safe than any J frame.
