Ive been cutting my own hair for for 5 years going to 6 and watching this video the barber pulled out the Oster classic 76!!! My dad is a barber and he had one and I fell in love with it through self discovery. Unfortanatly I don't have his clippers with me anymore since I moved away from home after his passing. I just ordered one earlier today in honor of my father and for my love for this clipper with all the blades from 00000 to Number 2 and can't wait to cut my hair with it. Great Video man

I really didnt wanna offend but i have found a method that is faster. And i also have taught at 3 different locations when i can. I specialize in vacuum cutting. @eliasgonzalez41: It's not a stupid question, man...What's stupid is that you want to know and DON'T ask for fear of being percieved as stupid. So to answer your question, barbers use combs to 'lay the hair down' and 'separate' it so that each hair can be cut. Brushing the hair is good for spreading the oils and stuff but if you want to catch each hair and cut it, you've got to use a comb.

@barcode477 As a present student in Barber college.... You HAVE to learn about women's hair. In the board exam we have in the state of Kentucky, we have to roll hair as if we are doing a perm. I don't like doing women's hair, but in reality, it isn't much different than doing a long haired guy.

Alsmillions. I broke my Andis masters and was wondering should I get the Andis Phat masters. Is it better. It suppose to be a mixture of the masters and the fade masters together.

@stufpuddin Not true. Who told you that? The Phat Master is a #2 blade. Meaning the lowest you can cut is 1/4". You can cut to skin with the Master. You need to repair or replace the Master.

man al, i had a pair of wahl balding clippers, but they kept snaggin the skin on me, plus i would always have to over the stubbles with a trimmer to get it extra skin tight, now i just do my first guideline with a regular 000 (standard clipper blade closed all the way) and then knock it down with a trimmer

Barbers do it all the time, but they're shortening the life of their trimmer. Jamming it with loads of hair and running it hot is not worth the $30.00 you'll spend to buy some balding clippers. If you're a barber, there's no excuse for balding with a outliner.

depends how many heads you cut and how often you cut, but it is necessary to have manyl tools that way you can tackle different cuts/textures, pro barbers also do so for sanitation and cuz clippers do get hot, if your cutting at home and just doing friends, you want at least one good clipper such as the andis improved master, and for ur trimmers, u need at least 2, one for adults,one for kids, i would suggest the wahl hero trimmer cuz it's great on both adults/kids, and is super light and small

Yeah I found a spot a few weeks ago actually. I originally went to a more expensive place expecting better results, and I got butchered and had to shave it off.

I went to a cheaper, but "men's only" place, and for 13 bucks got a real nice high and tight. It's not bald, but it's extremely short stubble on the sides, which is absolutely fine by me.

Combing helps to first get the hair to lay in the same direction so it can be cut evenly and to secondly remove fragments of hair that has not fallen away after being cut. This hair if not removed can cause you to make a crooked line or fade up too high if left in place.
