  • is that a ping pong table?

  • i am in 8th grade and am doing this ...... ftw

  • I realize it's equivalent but you can just do this geometrically by drawing the line from M to AO and proving the two triangles thus created congruent.

  • thanks for the video all the same mate was great

  • you're very welcome.

  • oh im going to get marks for it am i? man i cant find a maths video anywhere that isnt tainted by some sort of "educational" institution mentality, what happened to learning maths solely for our desire to answer our questions about our surroundings? if we keep up this attitude we're going to be plum out of highly educated free-thinkers pretty soon.

  • totally agreed with you. Take a look at the first video I made for these math lessons, I think you will like what i had to say. Peace.

  • awesomee thnx a ton

  • you're welcome :)

  • all you need to do is combine like numbers x and y, and take away the square root symbol, then raise the 'D' on the other side to the second power.

    you get.

    x squared + y squared = D squared.

    that looks like x squared + y squared = H squared

  • I would have made the mistake of putting x + y/2 at the end of that.

and another thing. I was putsing around with the distance formula, pythagorins theorem and a random right angle--and of course I was drunk off my arse--and I discovered that with the case of the hypotenues of the triangle,... distance formula and pythagorins theorm do the same thing.

    think about it

in both equations you have a quantity of X squared and a quantity of y squared.

  • I don't see the practical reason for this, someone helps me?

  • triangle oma and omb are congruent (SSA) 2 sides 1 angle and the other one is the same type so am=mb=om the end no reason to waste 7min of my life watching this vid.

  • confused ?

    you should be, lol

  • It's maybe just you. (:

  • um is that the satement and reason?

  • I guess you could think about it that way, if i understood you correctly that is.

  • That's never the midpoint formula I've learned...

  • But it works.

  • Is that a ping-pong table? o_O

  • multi-purpose ping-pong table :)

  • hmmm. can you do the triginometry guides??

  • i'm not sure what you mean by "triginometry guides".

  • umm like you know sine cosine ratios.... and if you can circles like every about circles...

  • i've already done some videos of sin/cos/tan so check them them ... i think they should help ... as for circles, i'm not sure when i'll get to them. I want to deal with circles when i get into graphing sin/ cos functions.

  • Great Job, thnx for the help.

Somethin makes me feel u look like Shavo Odadjian from System Of A Down :P .. or am i the only one?!?

  • haha Shavo Odadjian, no thats not me but i am Armenian and i did go off on SOD for a while.

I even wrote a review of Hypnotizes that got picked up by a few websites. You can find it by doing a search for "System of a Down: Hypnotized chycho"

  • Or killing a bee with a customized Bazooka!

  • It's like using calculus to calculate the area of a square!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OMG THIS IS LAME!!!

The problem is trivial! Use geometry lol

  • why don't you use a geometric proof?

  • At 7:36, how come you still can't take the square root of x squared+y squared? Would it become x+y or can it just not be simplified any longer? Sorry, I'm clueless... -_-'.

  • Oh Wait. Nevermind. I figured it out.

  • Why you no thinking!? You no hungry for math problem! You hungry for HOT POCKETS!!!

  • and you might not want to name your coordinates with x's and y's. it gets strange with point-slope form, etc.

  • finding the centroid is a killer...

well, at least when it comes to writing a formal proof for it.

  • that doesn't prove anything

  • thankyou! i think im gonna fail a teswt tommroow, so i was trying to study up though i had no problems...ill let u know how it goes..or not

  • I love Math. It was my favorite subject I was never good at in school. Still, with persistance I was able to achieve my goals. Now I am both a certified Math and English teacher at all grade levels (Elm-HS). I love math the most. Since I live in Puerto Rico, I'm stuck teaching English. It's what we need the most down here. Ít's fun but it isn't math.

  • I LOVE YOU.

  • I'm blushing :)

  • another proof: if we connect M with the midpoint of OB (lets name it C) then we have a stretch connecting the midpoints of two sides of the triangle(M for AB and C for OB) , so MC//OA (if you want i can prove this too) . And because OA is vertical to OBthen MC will be vertical to OB too. So because C is the midpoint of OB.The MOB will be isosceles with: OM = MB . And MB = AB/2 = AM ;) proved! !

  • Why not just say a2 + B2 = C2 Divided by 2

  • A and B have two dimensions, each point has an X and a Y associated with it, so it's not enough to just say A2 and B2 (if i understand you correctly)...

  • if any of you are students ill be surprise but if you guys are some what teachers than i can see that man im in geometry and im failing and im trying to learn but i cant forget it , it bores me to even watch maybe ill just read the holy bible

  • I had such a hard time with this, you helped a lot! thank you so much =]. Time to go pass Geometry!

  • Great lesson, thanks for the help

  • You are an excellent teacher! I am teaching distance and midpoing this week and thought I'd check a video out. Your explanation was very clear and concise. Great video!

  • thanks for tht, im doin maths A level in 6th form in UK, this helped a little, all the stages were a little confusing though, but thnx for tht
