@bbear1994 Thanks for the comment! Yeah, DMC was right there at the top of the stretch and just came up empty. Big effort by Super Saver to hang on as basically everything else was falling apart.
David ultimately picks Todd Pletcher's filly, Devil May Care to win the race over favorites Lookin At Luck and Sidney's Candy. David also looks at contenders like Awesome Act, Super Saver, Conveyance, Ice Box, American Lion, Paddy O'Prado, and Noble's Promise.
Ahhhh, the old name half the field and one of them has to win trick!
@npspec34 If you watch the video my picks were pretty clearly laid out. I chose Devil May Care over Super Saver and Awesome Act, with a couple of others that I considered real contenders.
How did you think Ice Box did? If he had an opening when he hit the stretch, I thought he could have caught the winner. He was almost eased up to avoid horses in the stretch, and yet came in flying second.
@exfolios He should have won the race. That is to say, with a clean trip he would have won. It's funny, Lezcano tried to emulate Borel's Street Sense/Mine That Bird trips...and he got absolutely stopped. He never had clear running until the eighth pole and by then it was too late. Obviously the front runners fell apart, and the final quarter was extremely slow though, so this doesn't mean Ice Box is some great horse.
David - You are the man. Hats off to you. I have no idea how you picked Super Saver. I thought his BRIS ratings in the last 2 races were over rated. If you had Make music for me in your exotics I am sure you will retire. Lucky in trouble again .. who would have guessed right? Ice box closing on a dying field NO WAY lol. I broke even having Ice box to show as my safety bet.
man you should consider another profession. i have watched 4 of your recent pick videos and you arent even clse . i get clser on my videos with less than 100 views. did you not see LAL getting closed off, everyone else did. Ice Box not in the top 5 , WOW. live and learn , live and learn (but please start learning)
David Crone- I usually love your handicapping. I disagree on a few horses. I definately will not rule out Deans Kitten. watch last 4 race and see the amazing improvment at each distance. I don't think he has peaked yet. I would not leave this one off your Tri-fecta.
Lets get up to the 2011 Derby
