I just noticed the old post about spiderman, Marvel.com had the first epi of the spiderman show, (complete with super robot) and apparently i read there was a crossover too. great show!!!

The Super Sentai series was most likely inspired by Tatsunoko's Gatchaman series. For the giant robots that started with Battle Fever J, that idea actually started with Toei and Marvel's other collaboration: the Japanese Spider-Man (or Toei Spider-Man). Why would Spider-Man have a robot and a car you ask? Same reason why the TMNT had a Turtle Van and a Turtle Blimp. To help sell TMNT toys. The TMNT originally didn't have their own vehicles in their 1984 comics.

So they gave the Toei Spider-Man his own vehicles to have enough merchandise and toys based on the television show.

@1983parrothead Science Ninja Team Gatchaman and a few other  Tatsunoko properties showed up in Tatsunoko vs Capcom (I played both versions) I don't know much about the characters since I wasn't around in the 1970's and Gatchaman had two horrible dubs (i.e. G-force) before some company released the original Gatchaman as for Toei Spider-Man his origin is more like Green Lantern than his U.S. counterpart that's all I know about the show and a few intro videos I've seen of it.
