Not only did this guy copy Edleman's style, he literally stole the Gettysburg theme-very similar to John Williams who has ripped of Stravinsky, Vagner, etc. ;) sorry if your brain is hurting to think ;)

This is one of them. I think doing a sequel would just turn this into a franchise. It'll be like a Call of Duty for the cinematic world. Think how much we enjoyed Shrek until they sequelled it to death. I'm afraid they'll do the same for HtTYD

@DragonNexus Shrek was pure comedy in adventure form. This story was different. This story was about freedom, about injustice, and about being different. It's about inspiration, and how a single idea can go a long way.

It's about flying further and higher than anyone else has flown before.

They say they're going to do a sequel, and judging by how awesome KFP2 looks and how they've preserved its soul, I reckon that it's going to be pretty damn good. It's going to be free.

Loved this film, it's everything you said and more.

But really, does anything in HtTYD say "Sequel" to you? Does it feel necessary? The story had its own character arc for everyone, it had a solid beginning, an enjoyable middle and climactic ending with everything rounded off nicely in the conclusion.

What exactly is open for a sequel? All I can think of is a new peril will invent itself to cause havok on the island for plot convenience sake and it'll feel like a cash in.

@SinataSeries Not really. It's based on the characters and the setting, but the story was completely re-written. The story in the actual book is nothing like the movie. At least, the books could help them to find a new storyline, but the next movie won't be like any of the books I think.

But i'm sure Dreamworks won't screw up the sequel, considering how much praise Kung Fu Panda 2 gets from critics at the moment.
