The group members went their separate ways after leaving Virgin Records due to creative differences and silently broke up. Despite this, in 1997, the Edmonds brothers released a cover of Hall & Oates' "Sara Smile" as a single (and sole new track) from the career retrospective The Very Best of After 7 before completely stopping releases under the group's name.

Melvin, Kevon and Baby Face...wow! Super talented vocalists who happened to be brothers! Not one is better than the other. Kevon's first solo album didn't disappoint.
Why do people sleep on Melvin? Even though he messed up at the end (and looked a little cheap, tee hee) he can really sing too! These guys are great! This used to be my favorite song!
@ilvchrst Melvin is an EXCELLENT SINGER. I think people slept on him because Kevon had such an unually high voice for a man. it was unique, while Melvin had the more traditional male lead singer voice (ala Temptations, Manhattans style). He was a phenomenal vocalist and at some times he did better than Kevon, I say that as a HUGE fan of Kevon. But all the Edmonds brothers got some chops
I so agree with you.... I am also a huge fan of Kevon but I think Melvin is phenomenal!!!! He could have made an excellent solo career too. So sad he is no longer in music. Hoping one day they all unite (as in the original singers)....guess that's just wishful thinking.

I first got to see them when they opened for Whitney on her "I'm Your Baby Tonight" tour. They were SMOOTH!!! They were a GREAT opening act!!!
