For those asking, this is totally worth a watch. I hadn't heard of it either. After watching it last night, I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. The first half is a bit slow, but pay attention because the 2nd half is nail-biting and as good a thriller as almost any. For me, it was a bit pedestrian, but after a certain middle scene, I became anxious and worried about what would happen next.

I've just watched this today and I must say this film makes very little sense.I've done enough research about Russian mafia, but I never came across a story similar to this, where one bunch of drug dealers take control of the whole train which plays 'kalinka' ffs:)

..The dead guy would have been found in matter of hours if informed about the nearest location of the bus stop...btw it takes a long time to learn how to operate the russian train, I guess for the yanks its a matter of seconds..

Google "european railway server", there you will find pictures of Russian and Chinese rolling stock and can match them against the movie. The Russian engine is a TEP70, don't remember which one the Chinese was. For a train nut you'd probably be amused by the fact that the whole Trans-siberian railroad is electrified and pulled with electric locomotives, not diesel as in this movie. Nevertheless a enjoyable movie!

I watched the movie yesterday, it was quite enjoyable. The atmosphere in the movie is amazing, I loved it. I've never been on the transsiberian, but it's like you're in it. The story itself has sometimes a weird twist, but overall, a nice story, not very special, but not bad either. I would give the movie a 7.5 (out of 10)

The detective was a corrupt cop who actually worked for the same gangsters that carlos was smuggling drugs for...so what would he care that he tried to rape her. They also said at the end that he had priors in sexual assault so he probably was gonna rape her. It's all part of the plot that you think his murder was senseless but then you realize it wasn't..same with her lying about it, if she told the truth they would have killed them all anyways cuz they knew too much.
