yes, this IS advanced technique because if you bend your fingers even a little, you'll break them. it takes a long time and a lot of practice to perfect this move.

if you use the thumb side of the hand to strike you will either dislocate or brake the thumb or both. if you don't believe me try striking a focus pad hard and see how much it will hurt you and not the opponent.

A 3rd degree black belt should know the difference between knife hands, ridge hands, and spear hands. This woman obviously doesn't. Also that little spot that she refers to is called the solar-plexus. White belts know that.
