  • 1979, wearing headphones in my parents living room, listening to dave marsden on cfny, if only they knew

  • Also ...you can see where the guitar riff for New Europeans came from .

  • I rememember first hearing this way back in 1979 and it was the sharp stabbing guitar that grabbed me until after several listenings you realise it's only part of a bigger picture ...thus my love affair with synth rock ( John Foxx - Ultravox began ) .

  • Human League never used guitars did they?

  • @schwinglow Not sure whether they did or not, but John Foxx's Ultravox are a million miles from Human League, who were way to poppie for my liking. Never liked purely synth bands. Ultravox and Magazine, etc., combined guitar and synth to great effect.

  • I FULLY Agree Pangaeaspeople1, Truly I Do!

  • Music was a hell of a lot better back then and there was a real variety to choose. Most of the more recent bands sound very much alike and quite dreary. The compositions are flawed and weak; wishy-washy is one possible description.

Soundtracks from new movies always seem to include these dreary tunes, which really ruin the mood. Unlike bands like Ultravox they won't stand the test of time; they already sound dated.

Ultravox are completely unrelated to Human League. Listen to more Ultravox here

  • "Things were different then".

Musically they were a lot bloody better!!!!

btw - if I'd not heard this song before, I'd have put money on it being Human League (albeit with the two birds gagged).

  • Still beautiful and moving - thanks for sharing this one, timeless ...
