TheRobert, thanx for the suggestion. You should be fine without short scale strings. (just a personal opinion, not fact) However I noticed that if you go reg strings your fingers get tore up a little. Short scale strings are nice because they are not as big and don't give that much tension.
orlyma I was looking at the fender as well. My buddy has one who really loves it but he said it was a toss up (to him) as to which one to get. They just went for the fender in a coin toss. i love the Gretsch because its simple.
Bboy. who cares what people say. Tell him I'm 27 and love the fact that I don't have to reach all the way to heaven to play a low C or G. Keep on rockin, that's all that counts!
I ´ve got this same bass. Try using some D' Addario EXL220S, short scale strings. They feel and sound great on this little monster. I have small hands and this guitar does the job.
Another option is a Fender jazz bass although it's a 34" feels good too 'cause of it's slimmer neck.
Nice review on this bass bro. My girl just got it today, and she wanted me to go do some research on it. I play guitar, and shez learning how to play bass. Its a nice bass and it sounds good. No frillz, and a kick ass size. She luv's it, shez just worried about people telling her its a kid bass, and that u need to get a bigger adult one. Lol, i said who carez what they think, as long as it feels and sound good to u.
Apparently Gretsch doesn't offer a case for this bass. Is there an aftermarket case you recommend?

People who own this bass:
I like to play pretty heavily distorted (a la John Entwistle). How will this bass hold up???

it will help people to find this video if you put G2202 on the name. One question: Does i really need to put on it short scale strings?
