very good interview with very good specialist. it's clear that space race of the past does not exists any more. it's very relative term now. and both countries are working on, i would say, first approaches to the extremely ambitious project Flight to Mars. technically the task is immense.
Agreed, Mikkitiny, a very good interview, except for the part regarding the Koreans, who has the right and should be allowed the freedom to launch its rockets without permission or agreement from anyone. Because that is the same right and freedom to launch that other nations have taken for themselves without consulting Koreans or anyone else.
Space race, unlike military race, is good. It stimulating progress, and Russia playing one of the most important role in space sphere development. So, waiting for Mars landing)
sorry for my ignorace, but in reality and in the bigger picture, whats the point of space race and what will it achieve in terms of science, doesnt it all lead back to military improvemetnt
What's more exciting is spending time, effort, and resources to resolve the world's problems, end international conflict, fix world economy, shit like that interests me. At this point in time a rock formation that looks like a face on Mars means nothing.
thats exactly my point, we have explored more of space than our own oceans, and for nothing, waste of resources and bright minds. we should focus on earthly problems from food to energy to eliminating discrimination amongst people...etc
no, you are not quite right. human population grows, planet resources are dwindling. it's quite possible that at some point life on the planet may meet big problems with resources. where to take them from? logically, look for them on space objects. but it requires corresponding space technologies and experience and it can not be gotten in a short time. so, despite all tasks on the Earth space exploration must be continued.
What a load of crap ! This dude has no idea what he is talking about !

Since the universe has no end, the space race would be won by the first humans to reach the space.

generally, you are right about north koreans. still, i do not care too much about korean ambitions.
mikkitiny 2 years ago
Exactly!
The only ones who are obsessed with Korea are those who have invaded them Korea unprovoked in the past.
Their 'sins' against the Korean people have caused them to believe that the Koreans may seek vengeance; lol
But that is not the Korean fault that their enemies are karmically delusional.

Expansion and exploration into the stars is the point. That doesn't excite you?

The world will always have problems.
Conflicts are inevitable.
Economies will always be in flux.
Meanwhile, there is a universe to explore...
