I feel like it is okay for an average looking guy to hold the belt. In a realistic fight things like fight experience, training, height, weight, reach all have the most bearing, but in Wrestling a heel can take the title through dirty tactics or a face can just be so talented and ambitious that they overcome common sense and reason with sheer desire to win it. What is not okay is throwing the belt on Sheamus or the Miz because you need a reason for John Cena to beat them.

One last thing, why does a World Champion need to be intimidating? Do you really need to be "afraid" of a champion as a fan? These smaller world champions are believable because of their tactics and ability, not because they strike fear in the hearts of everyone when they enter a room. Daniel Bryan doesn't look intimidating but you can buy this guy in the ring because he can capitalize on mistakes in the ring and simply outwrestle you. Same goes for Benoit, CM Punk, and others.

I saw Punk on Jimmy Kimmel and all I could see was how small he was... Bret Hart was small but technically above everyone else and had a presence about him that made him beliveable as champion. CM Punk could've been the rebel that everyone wanted but all he'll be known for is WWE ice cream bars and getting a Pedigree from HHH. He stole the GTS from Kenta and most of his moves are a rip-off of Japanese Puroresu. Still, he could've been a big star but they intentionally stopped his push.
