however, Scott Rudin reported that a film adaptation of The Yiddish Policemen's Union was in pre-production, to be written and directed by the Coen brothers.[ if they can get that one and kavalier and clay into theaters properly life should be just about perfect.

This film would've been a lot better if it were more true to the book. I don't understand why they chose to go as far as excluding Arthur, one of the main characters, who, obviously, was really important to the story.

@olsen091 The director and writer of the movie, Rawson Thurber, changed it so much to make it more of a fit for the big screen. Making it into a love triangle would make the story run better, so they got rid of Arthur and just made Cleveland the love interest, which Michael Chabon (the author of the book) approved of. There were also several failed attempts to make this into a movie, so this version finally got the story to the cinemas
