  • wow, a real time capsule there, really enjoyed watching!

  • hehehe i remember that 50, always broke down ! love the 31 with down ecs for ooc too ! looks like someone was in a hurry to get to old oak club for a quick pint on that light 50045 too !!!

  • So glad to see old Westbourne Park again!

  • wicked! 50 045 @ .2.40 was the first one i ever had. Sheffield-Rotherham in about 83/84!!

  • 3:25 what station were you at?

  • Great days. I'd meet my dad on Friday evening at Paddington and we'd grab a beer and watch all the 50's go in and out to Oxford and Theale and the like with the odd chocolate and cream dmu thrown in with a few 47's for good measure. All gone, I'm afraid - but some great vids to remember them by. The world is becoming boring!

  • No locos at the Ranelegh Bridge stabling point I see..

I gave up spottong in 1981.. can't see why anybody does it nowadays, there is absolutely nothing to look at except a ceaseless hegemony of banal multiple units in garish lollipop-liveries. The triumph of further uniformity and profit-driven consolidation. No wonder the heritage railways are booming eh?

  • This is 1 of the best vids I have seen stuff happening and a variety of trains its great. It just so happens I am modelling the early 80s so I am bias but still there is a lot going on and the filming is quite good too; well done.

  • Happy spotting days at Paddington ! I loved the Hoovers, that proper Diesel sound still gives me the goosebumps !

Spent many days there and at Old Oak Common , it's all changed now, never the same when Loco's were replaced by even more multiple Units.

  • Very enjoyable video to watch. Thanks for posting! Brings back so many nice trainspotting memories. I always enjoyed when some drivers would let you into the cab whilst in the station.

  • Happy days :-) Excellent video and bought back some really good memories.

  • Arghhh! 31404 was the most unpopular loco in the York area for a long time when allocated to Immingham (I think). It had a white stripe down the sides and was constantly shuttling between York and Hull in the days when these trains were formed of 4x Mk IIa off the South Trans-Pennine workings. Every bloody day for weeks I saw that loco.

  • @4SRKT It used to be the same in the York/Hull area back in the late seventies , only this time the culprit was 31 412. We used to see it every week.

  • Cool, love the old classics :)

  • Ah yes, the days when there were proper trains running out of Paddigton.

Was the Ranelagh Bridge fuelling point closed down by 1985..??

  • Class 50.050 Fearless is still with us stick a rake of Cargo D owned Mk 2s as they are in the blue and grey livery luverly jubberly

  • My first memories of 50s was at crewe double heading Glasgow expresses before electrification and loved them, then they replaced my beloved Westerns so hated them and of corse as one of the last type 4s ended up loving them again.

  • This is awesome. It brought a smile to my face. Fond memories :-)

  • Great vid. Wish I could see locos now. Just bought a house next to a railway line and all day I see shite! Great memories.

  • wow unrefurb C STOCK, nice locos!

  • Excellent video, brings back some good memories.

  • Thanks for uploading this. Awesome from the day stuff.

  • Bought tears to my eyes, apart from the Class 40 it was a fantastic video!!!! Long live the 50s!!!

  • A nice view back in the day now blighted by over head knitting, powering over priced ugly tin things to and from the hell hole that is Heathrow.

  • Disgusting behaviour at the beginning lol

  • DREADFUL !!!! 45 ON THE LOOSE

  • Fantastic archive of 50s at Padd - brings back so many great memories. Thank you!

  • Hellfire! Brings back memories of sitting on the end of the platform there, and many 50 bashing piss-ups!!!

  • Crackin' 5min's worth of ol' Paddy loco' goodies!

  • Superb stuff mate. Loved every minute (except the London Underground train getting in on the action. CUT!

  • 50 045 - around 3 mins in, accelarating away light - enjoy! Yhis is why so many people are saving examples of this amazing loco...you can also see why the 37's have following too (around 5mins mark)...brillaint!
