  • Man I was watching this video and I was surprised that you wrote that zx-10r is more powerful than a cbr1000rr.Maybe because you did this video in 2009, but new cbr are more powerful and better handling than zx10r and yamaha is nothing compare to the cbr 2011.R1 have terrible midrange like the kawi.I´m not kawi hater and I am not honda fan but that is a fact.I respect you and all the bikes but really 2011 kawi zx10r is great and comfie but when you talk about power and handling cbr1000 is the 1.

  • I love my 09 r1. It has about 8 less hp then the other 1000cc but it doesnt feel like it to me. The crossplane crankshaft gives it a very smooth acceleration. My first bike was a 07 cbr 1000 and I loved it. Only time will tell if ill like the r1 better. Ride safe and fuck all these haters. Everyone has different taste, To many poeple on youtube act like only thier opinion matters

The R1 has 1HP more than an 1198 and weighs more than any bike on the market in 2009 and currently.... especially since the only main changes between 2009 and 2011 has been color. The R1 will never beat the GSX-R!

  • lol @ point 12........r1 is too powerful ---> lowest rwhp of all liter bikes, even the v2´s (ktm,ducati) got more grunt. gixxer and zx10 are the hp kings of 09 (and then came bmw :-O ), the r1 falls behind by almost 10hp.....which is quite something.

  • No offense, but I own a 2009 zx 6r, I'm looking actually for a 1000cc, have tried all of the japanese superbikes, and I'm sorry to say that the 09 r1 is not as terrible as you say. 2009 zx 10r is dangerous only after 7500 rpm because she explodes, 2009 gsx-r 1000 is dangerous everywhere because of the gigantic torque she has, cbr 1000rr has the most friendly and easy engine to use, and the 2009 r1, despite the fact she has quite the same torque as the gsxr, is the least brutal after 10'000rpm

  • @gvzevb1 crossplane crankshaft has four crankpins, each offset at 90° from the adjacent crankpins. The first and last of the four crank pins are at 180° with respect to each other as are the second and third, with each pair at 90° to the other, so that viewed from the end the crankshaft forms a cross. The crankpins are therefore in two planes crossed at 90°, hence the name crossplane. Hence, an uneven firing interval of 270°- 180°- 90°- 180°. Giving it a awesome growl but no bite!

  • I'm no beginner when it comes to bikes but my last bike was a 2004 zx10r and I haven't ridden for 5 years, now you said in your video that you have ridden a zx10r k9 can I ask how it compared to the R1 as I'm looking at buying a bike again soon and its between those two cheers.

  • My FREAKING JAW DROPPED WHEN I READ 120 MPH in FIRST GEAR.. Sorry, I'm a 5 month motorcycle rider, 7000 miles on a kawasaki ninja 250 !!! Oh man.... Living on the 250 has spoiled me and I'll definitely kill myself if I do what I do with a 250cc on a 1000.. Abusing the throttle, clutch wheelies at dead stop from 9,000 rpms etc etc... that on a R1 = DEATH!

    #5 The R1 is actually the most user friendly out of all the litre bikes. Many people have said that the throttle is actually more forgiving than the other bikes.

    Nice little video. Not doggin your ride just stating facts. I actually wanted an 09 r1 myself but didn't have the money for one. I ended up with an FZ6R. Let me know when you ride up to N. Cali and well go for a ride! No Pinoys ride up in this area.

    Just cuz I own a commuter bike doesn't mean I have no experience with any other ;). About the R1 being the most user friendly bike, I know that based on people I know and people I have met on some sunday rides. They have said that compared to other 1000's that it IS fairly easy to control. I get all my info through people I've talked to and what people have stated on the internet.

  • #1 The r1 actually falls at the bottom as far as power goes and same goes for Ducati. 1/4 mile times are slower than most litre bikes. It actually loss power due to the new engine but the whole purpose was to get more pull out of the corner anyway.

    #2 The ZX10r doesnt have 200hp. The 2011 model is the first to have an estimated 200hp to rival against the BMW S1000RR.

    #3 It will not go 120mph unless you made the gears taller than stock.

    #4 Won motorcycle of the year for the new motor

  • #1 is bullshit, #4 is WAY off, #6 is highly exaggerated, and just so you know, the R1 has the least power of all the liter bikes. I have a CBR 1000rr, one of my buddies has the ZX-10, and another one has the GSX-r 1000, and I rode with guys that had R1's. I like the Yamaha, I have rode it, and I almost go one, but I have seen dyno runs of all these bikes in person at our local bike night, plus every magazine has all said the R1 is heavy and down on power.

  • @kalashinakov With a professional tune up and maybe some turbo, not only would the busa gets smoked even in top end, its much more nimble because of the way its built plus because of weight ratio. At least I would imagine it would be.

  • I reckon you stop bragging about how fast you think it is and buy some decent riding gear, And there are quite a few standard bikes that will trounce the r1 for speed and power, MV Agusta F4, desmo, f4 cc, busa, zx14, zx12, zx11, ring any bells? the list goes on.

    I'm not having a go for the sake of it as I am buying one in a few days , for the reason thats its alot tamer than my current bikes and I want something to potter round on.

  • nice vid, but i have to agree with cobra, there is no way the 09 does 120mph in first. my 08 does 140 Kph (about 85 Mph) in 1st, and the gearing IS TALL, (i dont have an 09/10 to prove you wrong but it doesnt sound right at all), as for the ZX10R having 200HP... they wish! real figures are closer to 165 HP (SAE) They may still beat the R1, but not for sound that's for sure!

  • When i test-ridden the 09 R1 in the track the thing i noticed is the bike feels neutered. There is no rush at high RPMs. Its smooth and it feels like a begginers bike. Im sure that smoothness contributes to better laps overall but the bike really needs to wake up if you get my drift. Its pretty bike though and it corners easilly. I wasnt impressed by its power though :(

  • As R1 and ZX10R Owner, can proudly testify no CBR or GSX-R has ever come within 12 ft of winning against either bike. As for Cobra Daddy the bike does have a 10% off factor, it is 90mph in 1st, top speed 188 without removing and adjusting (that's important) limiters and restrictions. I am currently planning on buying a '10 R1 or 10R SE

  • Wow you know nothing about your liter bikes! 120mph in first gear, better check that again. Zx10's have the highest first gear at 105mph! 09+ R1's have lower speed gearing in first than last gen so it's under 100mph!

  • if you feel the throttle is way too sensitive for you, ride it in standard or B mode

    for me it's A mode the other modes are too lazy and as for theCBR don't know what year you're refering too but my 08 blade feels like a 600 on steroids, never power wheelied a bike in 3rd gear till the 08 blade.... but love both bikes

    PS if you're still in break-in period, do more engine braking

    2009 Yamaha R1 = 146.2 HP

    all measured at SuperFlow Technologies Group Dyno.

    i love my bike probably just as much as you do , but , you should research more before making statements.

    A MODE = 30% more power in the first 50% of throttle opening

    STANDARD (well the name says all)

    B MODE = less throttle response

  • Nice bike, I ride a CBR600 myself. Question for you. On the R1 how is the throttle response if you select the mode that is the lowest. If this mode is being used, do you feel that the throttle is too much out of all the liter bikes?

  • mdp632 ---- to be honest with you. we have not yet tried to put the d mode to B or A. It is always in STANDARD MODE. Mmmm, we will try it one day. STANDARD works out perfectly so if i will ever change the D MODE, it will be to the maximum power. to the A MODE. But yeah, we will try it to B mode just for you. I will get back to you.
