@gixxer450 thats actually not a K20a. its a k20a2 or k20z1 from an Acura RSX-S from the United States. so its USDM, not JDM. i have the same motor swap. a k20a is a wrinklye red valve cover with a silver spark plug cover, and a black oil dip stick. and i believe the manifold cover doesnt say "2.0 DOHC" on it like the Typ-S RSX. just "i-Vtec". but i got mine from hmotorsonline for $3500 with JDM ECU, and with a tranny with all the little accessories hooked on it. thats a decent price IMO.

It gives you more low end torque, NOT top end.

If these honda gurus didnt have such a highlift secondary lobe they would put big ole' cams in it ans sacrifice lowend torque.

Without Vtec (but with a identical size grind cam as the secondary lobe) the honda vtec motor wouldn't make any power down low.

It wouldn't be beneficial (horsepower/torque wise) to have vtec "Kick in" at 3000 rpm. A smaller cam grind works much better at increasing velocity of the incoming charge and the outgoing exhaust charge.

Btw...Vtec works throughout the whole rev range. You are just talking about cam staging (The change in valve lift). Vtec also alters Cam phasing constantly...even before 3000rpm. Cam phasing changes the timing of the cam(s)

it's possible, even at lower boost . i read about an integra the other day which was a top secret's project car.the 1.8L (b18c1) made 550whp @ 1 bar of boost.but these guys changed everything in the engine, with forged and titanium parts. and guess what.. they left the pistons of the engine stock just to see how long the would last. so i figure that since the k20 is a more advanced and higher displacement engine, making 520hp@1. 6bar is not the best
