Plant never "dabbled in in Eastern sounding music". It's always been there in his core, long before Zeppelin. Page's Eastern influences, when combined with the sounds that Plant grew up amongst is part of what made them souch a great combination. Things like Tangerine and Kaskmir weren't contrived. They came from within, not from "dabbling". That's why they're so great and ever lasting.
Arabian isn't a way to describe music... this is based on Eastern theory rather than the Western approach of Europe and North America. Many musicians end up dabbling in Eastern sounding music at some point in their careers (as i am now) because it is almost spiritual. Hindus believe that music is the highest and most spiritual incarnation of sound, and thus, God (Brahmin((everything)) is found in it.
I think he just wants to leave Zeppelin as something good instead of risk ruining it, like with TV shows and such. Don't kill it basically.
And the strange versions of zeppelin songs the zeppelin lot sometimes do, mainly plant, are always fun to listen to. I love how this goes all Arabic! Anyone know the words?
this is NASTY - he should do the zep tour - just a stadium in US. knebworth praps a few in Europe Paris and DL and SA and Oz etc - if nothing else for the money. They could net 10 mill UK each for that
he doesn't play w/ Zep maybe because of the EXPECTATIONS. If Zep were to reunite, which they won't, it would be so contrived and Percy wouldn't want that. Yes he may sing zep songs but he's free not to do them either!

So since the only people he won't play Zeppelin with IS Led Zeppelin (Jason makes it Zeppelin), I have to believe it's something else. Maybe he doesn't want to share a spotlight with a genius (Page). Or maybe he's saying that what Page is writting these days is lacking...that he shot his load. I don't know. I don't get it.
With Strange Seansation and Alison Krauss, he could get the songs rearranged and play them in a new way. With Zeppelin it will be a "The Greatest Hits" tour. And mind you, he shared the spotlight with the others at O2.

Well, Page showed that he can rearrange the Zep tunes and do them differently (Page/Plant, the O2). And there's no need to go out and do a "Greatest Hits" tour either. There are a bunch of awesome Zeppelin tunes that have never been done live they could perform (Carouselambra, In The Light, Royal Orleans). There's a number of things they could do that would be fresh and creative. And nobody Plant is working with is on the level of a musician like Page. Sorry...I still don't get it.

And, it's really not just about musical ability. They are obviously on different paths now. It makes no sense to drag them together. Music comes from heart, if Robert is happy with what he is doing now, so let him.
And I really really really wish Jimmy can do something new and fresh, no matter with whom.
I don't get it either. He plays Zeppelin material all the time. Sometimes he plays them like the originals and sometimes he re-arranges them. I still think the reason he won't do Zeppelin has nothing to do with boredom but has more to do with Bonham's death....even after all these years.
how about that high moan robert hits toward the end of the clip? He saves those high wails for songs that inspire him and get the old passion burning, its great.
Robert Plant is so versatile...awesome...and the band are great too !!!!
