So, David's father was injured while he was on the job, and his family needs money. David and his younger brother go to work as Newsies for a day, then they decide to go on strike. Somehow, it never crosses his mind that his family is counting on him to provide for him. Not only that but his father is applauding his choice. I agree that standing up for what you beleive in is a good thing, but noone sees that this may have a negative outcome in the long run for his family. Oh well, great movie.

Seize the Day (the actual name of this song) = A bunch of kids basically saying "fuck you, we're gonna get what's rightfully ours" to the most powerful people in the country at the time.

Here's the thing, the only reason kids are such slackers and fuck ups these days is they're overprotected, sheltered, and nobody expects shit from them. You give a kid some freedom and expect him to make something of himself instead of just telling him he's special, and he'll go kick some ass.
