Bards = Best MMO class (EQ, Lotro (minstrel), Ultima Online (for all you UO fanboys ;D), DDO, and now Rift :D! (yes im sure there is more but these are the MMO's i have played))

Bards are just the coolest thing, you play a guitar and people die, or people get healed

also you would benefit to have sabatour as your third soul, so you can snare tanks off of your support

Not that a bard heals good at all, but yes I know its nice to have the bard to help cushion incoming dmg when I am keeping my group up with my puri/sent cleric, what is more important is your fanfare, and motif to increase the amount healed to the group, and combat runspeed is a must for support to attempt to prekite.

@bejohnse i agree whit u totaly. i am a sidehealer (but a good 1 ;)) and yes my focus is buffs etc etc. and i can stand pretty far upp so they can smash on me.

when you hit 35 you become the best support class in the game for pvp. you got 25 bard 21 rift and 0 BD and become an unkillable tank that heals the whole raid without mana issues. on my bard/rift ive had 5+ people pounding on me while keeping everyone up in 3 groups easilly. easilly the best pvp roll in the game.

how does the mechanic work? do you apply dots (combos) and each one acts like a hot or group hot? will have to have a play with one

@Mehuge Your question doesn't really make sense. DOT = Damage Over Time. HOT = Heal Over Time

heals aoe on enemy hit with a skill called cadence,must spend 3 point on a talent for do that, heals 100% of damage dealt.(very low damage based on equipped weapon) each hit gives a combo point for the other skills (same as wow rogues)

and he also heals with an aoe hot.
