Anyone that says that recruiters are not predatory has never stepped into a recruitment office. Go in and tell them how you want to join the reserves and finish college and they will feed you a bunch of BS about how you'll be earning credits while you're in the military. They never mention to you about how 90% of those "credits" you earn won't transfer to any college ever, much less apply to your major.
They are salesmen, and they will tell you whatever you want to earn their commission.
The military recruiters are predatory people. They're like drug dealers peddling drugs, only they're peddling membership to a club where the board of members are those that are pushers of illegal and unjust wars and occupation of lands that rightfully belong to others.

They dont pay as great as they make it seem mainly your stuck on base so you save your pennies and they add up. But the recruiters are paid for every person they bring in so they do there job and try to get you to join.

I went to the Naval Academy as a compromise with my mom, so that I could lead, and so that I could quit should I change my mind (I ultimately quit). No, there really isn't a lot more to it. Yes, some people could try as hard as possible to get out of the slums and better their situation and still not make it - but the point is, very few try.
The question I'm asking is: are they doing /everything/ they can, and the answer is almost always "no." Hoodies that bitch about the system so they have an excuse to sit around, steal shit, and not try to use the system to their advantage don't deserve upward mobility.

Oh please. In this country we have something called upward mobility. Our ghettos don't compare to the favellas in Rio, slums in Palestine, villages in Africa, etc., where people truly have no options. No one is forced to starve in the U.S. American gangsters aren't killing for survival, but greed. It's the easy way out.
