@gallego989 We do white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, black. I guess I'm 3rd kyu right now. Of course this doesn't matter. The Do is to be walked by every karateka, and obi color is not always related to how we are walking this inner path. Oss!
I've just earned green belt, and this is my next kata. I assume it will take all of 2011 for me to have a decent performance of Seiyunchin. It is a complex, beautiful and powerful piece of karate-do. Arigato gozaimazu from Argentina!
@RudivanHemert : yes, every school or dojo with its own little book :) I had to learn Saifa to pass to orange, and begun Seiyunchin right after graduating as midori obi (green). I will have Seiyunchin in my exam to blue. Months to come polishing this beautiful kata!
Can't wait to learn this kata. Sadly it's a Shodan kata in my style, and I'm an orange belt right now. Bassai Sho(called Bassai Dai in other styles) is my next kata.
@kyuubifox66 Well, it's necessary for nidan, so it's taught at shodan. Seipai is needed for kari-shodan. I study Chishin Ryu under Hiroyuki Hamada, Int'l chairman for Dai Nippon Butokukai. Yeah our syllabus goes in different order than most styles. Right now I'm working on Rohai (most closely resembles the Matsumura Rohai) for my 6th kyu green. You can check the Chishin Ryu playlist on my channel if you want to check them out.
@singhakabuttar In the grand scheme of things you are correct, it's all training. Don't get me wrong, I love how every kata and technique I learn prepares me for the next, especially certain techniques can be found in different kata. Just looking forward and setting goals, that's all.

Such artistry! Higaonna Sensei is truly a MASTER!

I just started practising Seiyunchin. I believe it's a beautiful kata when performed well and Higaonna Sensei makes it looks so easy.
Not so much when I'm standing in the dojo, trying to remember my angles and stances.
I suck.
