i'm a fan of both the 787 and the a350, but you have to hand it to airbus for the a350's specifications (and so far it appears they are on track to deliver them) and the innovation and beauty of the design. The aircraft is on track to fly in 2012, compared to all the delays the 787 encountered, it is obvious that airbus has learnt many lessons from the a380, primarily not to bite off more then they can chew. I hope that boeing will get sorted with the 787 or airbus will destory it with the a350.

You try to design a plane that does not look like any Airbus, or Boeing. The Airbus company made the A380 in 2004, because airliners asked Airbus to do so. It was not built to replace the Boeing 747. And please, today when we need to think about the enviroment. How could Airbus not make a plane similair to the B787? Besides, neither of them makes turboprop planes. They both NEED to build jets, so there you go.
@daniel223543 Just to clear it up, the A350 was designed in order to somewhat resemble the 787 and compete head on with it. I do however believe this is a good thing as the competition is what allows the two company's to build reliable and efficient aircraft and give the market the best aircraft available. Besides the exterior similarities, the two aircraft are going to be very different in terms of the cockpit and flying
first of all the music is BEAUTIFUL. second of all i think i found the boeing 787's twin brother. the A350 of course. and third of all, beautiful video.
I feel sorry for those airlines that ordered the 787 before this came on the market. this aircraft is more fuel efficient, has a 1000nm extra range + 130 more seats.
@Airplanespot Of course its not fair. You're safer on a 737-6/7/8/900 or 737-3/4/500 than almost any other type of aircraft ever made. The A320 series and E-170/175/190/195 are in the same neighborhood for accident rates, and only the 777 and A340 are safer (not including A380 yet as it doesn't have enough flights to count in airsafe.com's rankings, but like every other current Airbus and Boeing aircraft, it's almost certainly exceedingly safe)
wow look at this bird :)....i loved it :)...i think its looks better than A330. i cant wait to see this baby :D....and want to have in my collection :)....
747-8 is a cheap and boring replacement for the classic 747-400 series in my mind's eye. Boeing did not want to invest in an all new 747 replacement as it was seen too risky a business venture. I applaud Airbus once again for taking the risk and pushing the envelope in terms of innovation and design. I think Airbus have pushed aviation 20 years into the future whereas Boeing is still tinkering with a 1960's old rusted antique 747 design.
They are so lost accounting how much money they´ll have to pay ANA and the rest of their retarded costumers in terms of DELAY COMPENSATIONS that they just can´t get what´s the diference between this TWO different concepts:
@arsenium666 dude, Boeing is not mediocres on any level. Yhe a350 was just a last ditch effort to catch up, after the blunder with the a380, the worlds ugliest aircraft, affectionately known as "fat bastard" since its made from discarded designs from Mcdonnel Douglas and Boeing( the MD-12 design and ealry discarded 747 designs.) airbus is not original, at all. thats mediocres -going in the trash bin to get ideas. Brilliant.
@eliskander The A380 has not a single part or discarded design from MD-12 or 747.You are talking rubbish. Maybe its not the most beautiful plane in the skies but its the most efficient plane for hub to hub and the most complex and advanced plane on earth.
Do you know who is selling faster the A380 or the 747-8? Out of these two which would be the most efficient? Thanks good video and nice aircraft I like the wing design.
@thepod24 but history shows that mostly the modern aircraft is the better one. so in every class (midd size or what ever the 787 350 are) the moste modern is the best. if the 787 is the first one it is the best plane until the a350 shows up and so on and so one. the reaso is that you have to lock a project at some point during development in order to get the poject done. if you would upgrade every part of a e.g. plane at anytime something get improved you never get the right data to continu.
the next "7" model would be the 797 and there is no need to beet the a380, the 747 already had its time and not that many people fly at one time anymore. Air travel now is focused on efficiency and comfort and range without a huge aircraft.
787 and the A350 are the same thing and were designed to do one thing: get people from point A to point B so quit fighting unless your a pilot who actually flies the aircraft....
As a passanger I´m concerned just about safety...until composite planes proves to be as reliable as Alluminium then I´ll be satisfied
Until now, and following B787´s development, it has all chances of being a new kind of Mass Destruction Weapon
Boeing had NOT performed any kind of Repetitive fatige testing on 787´s Wings, nor measured the impact of the stresses the winbox will have to cope: that will lend to catastrofic cracking events as far a´s I´m concerned
Airbus is nothing more than a bunch of companies that had melted inside this paneuropean consortium...some of them are older than Boeing...and even battled in WWII
In terms of stealing ideas, Airbus is the PIONEER in aviation composites...Boeing had zero THAT´S WHY OUTSOURCED their 787 composite building (80%) out of America: Japanese composite Wings and centerframe, Italian composite fuselage, etc...
I think this thing will destroy the 787..... as we all know Airbus has been always a step ahead of Boeing...That's European Technology baby, High quality from Gigantic size to molecular...American tech is history...ahaha
Airbus have learnt many lessons from the A380 development. Did it almost bring Airbus to its knees as it did RR in the 70's with the RB211? I think the answer is yes. But many lessons will have been learnt hence my opinion that this project will be an outstanding success.
unfortunately given the problems that Boeing seem to be having with 787 I don't think either 787 or A350 will ever fly, although hopefully A350 does it would be nice for Airbus to prove their superiority over boeing
the only reason americans hate airbus is that airbus designs the fusealge narrower so the company must make the seats narrower and the fatasses cant fit their ass into a seat.
yeah that's true it was suposed to be in service now but that's something you can get when you make something new remember the A380 also suffered delay before they couldt deliver the plane to it's costumers it's the same as software they release it once the bugs are solved
I like boeing and all, but there simply no denying that Airbus has long since had the most beautiful wing designs ever - they've really outdone themselves this time!
I am a fan of the 787 but this video almost brings tears to my eyes. If Airbus plays their cards well, the A350 could write a new chapter in the history of commercial aviation.
What a load of rubbish. Airliners dictate the comfort levels of an aircraft based on economics. The same companies fit out either Airbus or Boeing aircraft.
For example the Emirites A380 has the best first class cabin on any airliner today, with private suites for couples or individuals and even access to in-flight spas.
You're just another American who will put down anything not made in America.
New nose and cockpit windshield are better than early design before. I just prefect small one called A350-800 with 3+3+3 seat row inside it interior. And other my airbus favorites are A300-600, A320 with V2500 engines, A340-600 and small A350-800. But the A380 are amazing to me.
What can I say but wow! This new generation aircraft seems to be flawless in design. The outer designs seems to be very aerodynamic and very light. Hopefully Airbus won't delay this magnificent aircraft!
The A350 models do not compete directly with the 787-8, the model that makes the majority of 787 orders. Not very wise by Airbus to not develop a direct competitor to the 787-8. 787 > A350, Boeing > Airbus.
This is basically compete with the 787. As the smallest A350 can land with the same amount of runway as a 787-800, and can carry more passengers, for better fuel efficency
i personally don't like RR engines:the trent 500 operators ( emirates' A340-500) aren't satisfied with ; the trent 800 operators encouter serious issues (British airways' B777) and so does(not critical though) trent 900 operators (Singapore airlines' A380). I'm affraid TRent XWB could be the only option for the A350...
but Airbus is facing another issue: engine choice. Companies like airfrance are making pressure on airbus to offer a GE solution on the XWB, but GE can't develop an entirely new engine because of the cost and it can't offer the GEnx cuz it 's an 787 exclusivity...So Ge is developping a derivative with an air pump instead of an alternator for the -800-900 versions only.
Uhm regarding on your engine theory, Airbus and Rolls Royce signed a contract to make the Trent XWB which is more efficient, powerful, and more quieter up to 16dB under ICAO standards if you were to hear an A350 passing by, that's so quiet already imagine what would it sound inside! Maybe you should subscribe to Airbus' Press releases, in that way you will have an accurate comment, unlike blogs and so on they are already twisted and edited to change the positive to negative.
the original a350 wasn't doomed, it had 300 orders after all(considering that the developpement hadn't begun yet)!
lightness, reliability and maintenance are tightly linked: low mass means fewer parts moreover faster inspections, better avaibility and fuel savings.
i hate to spoil that party but keep in mind that the total ammount of orders for the A350 is on 505 boeing is still holding 865 orders for they're 787 those are just the numbers will be interresting wich company get's the most orders for the A350 and 787
I don't think so , the original a350 project philosophy was to provide a lightweight plane with conventionnal technologies but with the most advanced turbofan to increase efficiency. Things seems not to change on the XWB even though airbus claims the contrary. now Airbus is putting more new technologies on it but faces weight issues...
Do you have a source for this? ALL programs have weight issues. Even the A380 is still 5tons overweight. But it will loose sooner or later. Also the 787 is overweight. But after frame 58 if i believe correctly they will have sorted out that weight. Besides the original A350 project was doomed from beginning. Lightweight is not the only factor important for airlines. Reliability and less maintenance is also very important.
Haha! Shame on you! The A350 has the SPICE(SPace Innovative Catering Equipment) allowing the plane 20% more seating and 30% more on range, unlike the traditional bulky catering trolley and galleys which is also used by the 787. Anyways thanks to BMW the A350 cabin is improving. New lighter, comfortable, space saving seats.
it's not the final design: actually the cockpit windscreen is the same as the a330's one, and the true wing shape remain secret. Apart from the nose everything is fake
Oh yeah! I knew it! they are still going to rely on the A380 experience^^ Actually let me correct you with the A330 windscreen(no offense) they are going to do it the same as the A380, if you connect together the windscreen of the A380, it will become the A350's. If you notice sometimes the A380 looks like the A350 concept. Anyways I have read press releases, and they are changing the 6 windscreen to 4, because its too big for the A350^^ Cheers!
Maybe the looks are similar but the A350 is very diffrent then the 787 but not better in all aspects. Bigger wingsize, conventional bleed-air,many A380 technology's, newer engines, latest aerodynamics, cfrp shell assembly instead of barrels and the most modern flight deck in the skies.
ok, so youre trying to say that the A350 already rolled out, got 800+ orders, is currenlty being assmbled, and is going through tests?...B......S.......
No,my point is that its seems to be a much better plane than the 787!Boeing rushed with the 787 that's why they have so many problems now!And the 1st flight has not taken place yet!But don't forget that airbus also made the A380 when Boeing was designing the 787
honestly can't wait for this plane, especially because it is coming to Aer Lingus!

Actually there´re no IF´s:
Results from Jan-July 2009:
Airbus 140 gross orders and 22 cancellations:118 net orders.
Boeing 129 gross orders and 89 cancellations=40 net orders.
Get your facts straight: Airbus overtook Boeing quite long ago, 2008 included , this year competition is missed: AIRBUS Monopolizes the marquet.

Airbus doesnt have the quality that Boeing does in there passenger comfort

i think you are very very wrong here, but you will not admit that, will you? fanboy :D

Elegant Design from yet a another aircraft from Airbus!
Well Done Airbus Industries.

New nose and cockpit windshield are better than early design before. I just prefect small one called A350-800 with 3+3+3 seat row inside it interior. And other my airbus favorites are A300-600, A320 with V2500 engines, A340-600 and small A350-800. But the A380 are amazing to me.

me too! i love airbus!

What can I say but wow! This new generation aircraft seems to be flawless in design. The outer designs seems to be very aerodynamic and very light. Hopefully Airbus won't delay this magnificent aircraft!

this is a slick plane nice curves and clean design

The A350 models do not compete directly with the 787-8, the model that makes the majority of 787 orders. Not very wise by Airbus to not develop a direct competitor to the 787-8. 787 > A350, Boeing > Airbus.
oilpride 2 years ago
This is basically compete with the 787. As the smallest A350 can land with the same amount of runway as a 787-800, and can carry more passengers, for better fuel efficency

How do you know this?

I absolutely LOVE the shape of the cockpick glazing on A350.
Danusha7800 2 years ago
i personally don't like RR engines:the trent 500 operators ( emirates' A340-500) aren't satisfied with ; the trent 800 operators encouter serious issues (British airways' B777) and so does(not critical though) trent 900 operators (Singapore airlines' A380). I'm affraid TRent XWB could be the only option for the A350...
Mymosah 2 years ago
Mymosah, you work for General Electrics, right? :-)
Danusha7800 2 years ago
but Airbus is facing another issue: engine choice.
Mymosah 3 years ago

Mymosah 3 years ago
i hate to spoil that party but keep in mind that the total ammount of orders for the A350 is on 505 boeing is still holding 865 orders for they're 787 those are just the numbers will be interresting wich company get's the most orders for the A350 and 787
johan274 2 years ago
I don't think so , the original a350 project philosophy was to provide a lightweight plane with conventionnal technologies but with the most advanced turbofan to increase efficiency. Things seems not to change on the XWB even though airbus claims the contrary. now Airbus is putting more new technologies on it but faces weight issues...
Mymosah 3 years ago

New lighter, comfortable, space saving seats.
jewelshare 2 years ago
it's not the final design: actually the cockpit windscreen is the same as the a330's one, and the true wing shape remain secret. Apart from the nose everything is fake
Mymosah 3 years ago
Oh yeah! I knew it! they are still going to rely on the A380 experience^^ Actually let me correct you with the A330 windscreen(no offense) they are going to do it the same as the A380, if you connect together the windscreen of the A380, it will become the A350's. If you notice sometimes the A380 looks like the A350 concept. Anyways I have read press releases, and they are changing the 6 windscreen to 4, because its too big for the A350^^ Cheers!
jewelshare 3 years ago
R they gonna copy their rival?
hitachiota 3 years ago
Maybe the looks are similar but the A350 is very diffrent then the 787 but not better in all aspects. Bigger wingsize, conventional bleed-air,many A380 technology's, newer engines, latest aerodynamics, cfrp shell assembly instead of barrels and the most modern flight deck in the skies.
techdefined 3 years ago
Airbus did it again! This plane should become a complete success! The 787 is far behind this plane!

ok but look whos is already a plane this is just a drawing it aint even real you cant judge them yet

Yes a plane that hasn't flew yet as it seems there are many problems with its design
cypriotpilot 3 years ago 2
i will admit they will grace the skys with there beauty
shortkid97 3 years ago
ok, so youre trying to say that the A350 already rolled out, got 800+ orders, is currenlty being assmbled, and is going through tests?...B......S.......
hitachiota 3 years ago
No,my point is that its seems to be a much better plane than the 787!Boeing rushed with the 787 that's why they have so many problems now!And the 1st flight has not taken place yet!But don't forget that airbus also made the A380 when Boeing was designing the 787
