That's Muriel Gray doing the interview. She ain't being negative she would have probably been the one who invited him onto the show, she was very well informed. If you step back you will see that the two of them know what a staged set-up this interview is, so they are both playing along with a kind of charade. The tube was a lot like that, kind of arch ironic sarkiness where it was putting on bands enjoyed by an older audience, but in the schoolkids hour. It went out at 5.30 in the evening.
Well I'm playing the guitar with my feets, in a old technique from india, and bumping the piano with my cock. I'll fuck something later. Wait my new material.

Well she died long time ago, and I don't know much about her, well apparentley she loved the banana, and also to some of her friend. They were call "The velvet underground". Nice music. Well that it's life, her name was Andy Warhol.
Very fond memories of Helter Skelter '88-'89. I miss the whole atmosphere of the era, but that would include my young state of mind and how it processed everything at the time. It's nice to get a taste...
I remember watching this in '85, first time I'd heard of Jim Thirlwell/Foetus, pretty good to say it's just him and a backing tape. Interesting guy and very underrated, even today.
They were probably there to listen to Soft Cell... Maybe Jim was a little to "out there" for them. This video made me feel like I was a kid again - Awesome find!!!!!!!
My goodness, how many times in the past roughly 20 years have I quoted "Purgutory disguised as a room with a view" to people who have no idea where I swiped it from? Priceless.
I always announce a hangover by telling people it's "another hungover morning in the bottom of the black lagoon". I think this means my hangovers are way more industrial than anyone else's. Ouch.
WOW! As much as I love his music and art, he really SUCKS in interviews. But then so do I so if nothing else I totally identify with him.
He prolly should have done the whole interview in character, with his american growly Clint voice. "Listeaown, babeh, I gat got one ... grrrhhmmmnnn .. if you got the oven, you know what ahm talkinnnn' bout? Humnnnn?"
I grew up in Camden Town during the eighties and it was a right dump. Flyposting was rife over the numerous boarded up shops. wonderful - its amazing that great art like that gets made at all when even those presenting it appear to be attacking it, who needs Maggie Thatcher when you've got Muriel Grey..

Great clip but tv crowd is kinda lame...nothing like the Sound Factory concerts I remember, those were intense.
Long live Thirlwell, but fuck you guys dissing Trent... I know, his shit sucks these days, but when was the last time you threw "Broken" in your stereo? Go seek out the EP "Fixed" that followed thereafter, there is some truly golden "industrial" collaboration from the two of them... "Screaming Slave" is the breach crack baby of Foetus and NIN
Hahaha, he even coined the best and most famous one, "A woman's place is on my face!", I love how he follows his own advice religiously: he says what he means and says it mean. Great provacative legendary dude, his life & works should be in the national curriculum as of year 7 i reckon.
Wow man...actually seeing Jim coin one of his classic phrases "Eat my fire, I'm the new Messiah" sent hisvers down my spine. This is gonna sound a bit elitist but it's very true: 90% of people my age (17-18) wouldn't recognise this guy. Thanks for posting the vid :D

I was present when Muriel, as Rector of Edinburgh Uni, was reduced to tears by the then President of EUSA. If anyone expresses any interest, I'll repeat the joke that did it ...
