As I said in my other comment about xp drivers not being made availiable for new computers, ms is making it so you're stuck with vista. It's simply their only way of selling vista these days, and if people had a choice, they would choose xp. Take away xp as an option.... you see my point. So this said, of course microsoft is going to say only 10 percent arent happy with vista. anything to sell it.

Although, it may be worth noting that every license of Windows 7 will allow you to use Windows XP. At least Microsoft have been listening to what the users want, finally!

I do computer repair, and when a customer is looking to buy a new computer, getting winxp as an operating system on the new system is now VERY hard. Dell, compaq, hp, are making it so xp drivers arent even availiable for the new computers in stores. This is limiting your choice to vista only. Vista in my experience is too resource hungry, and too many issues with older software etc. My advice to get an xp capable machine is to simply build a custom from scratch computer.

got 2 new vista pc's this month, a laptop, and a desktop for gaming. The desktop needs rebooting about 4 or five times a day!!! my old xp desktop would go for weeks without needing to reboot. Vista came with both my new pc's. The laptop although slower, is more stabe by far. I guess its just pot luck if you get a good setup.

A 1.8GHZ Core 2 Duo outperforms a P4 at any speed...even in Notepad. It's all about Clocks per cycle, cache speed, cache size, FSB speed, etc.

The main reasons for a new PC to be slow is that if you buy a new PC, what about the real BLOATWARE? Norton Internet Security, and all the other bullsh!t with it...that's what makes Vista slow. That's why I download a Vista OS off a TORRENT and use the LEGIT key on the COA sticker.

Vista sucks balls. I was really pissed off with the first service pack. It was nothing but a piece of software to prevent piracy and a collection of the updates you could get from windows update without installing the service pack anyway. I'll never upgrade to vista. I'm a computer repair tech and the most frequent thing I do is wipe Vista off of new computers that my clients buy and put on XP.

I want to like Vista but not for what it currently costs and doesn't deliver, and not right now. Vista might make more sense in a year or two when majority of its problems are fixed (if they are fixed). Sure, XP had problems at launch too and there were many advocates of sticking with 98 but it did not have NEARLY as many problems and many articles actually complimented XP on numerous improvements, including speed and stability, unlike with Vista right now.

is still to this date the most Stable operating system made, Now Windows xp was a kind add-on more

user friendly system which had many many problems from point one. Now yes most of this software issues

I had the beta but the some of the hardware I had that worked with the beta does not work with vista retail. Also I'm having problems with itunes and SATA drivers. It's Oct 2007. I expect more.

It really depends on the scanner and scanner software that you have.

If the scanner (or all-in-one) came with a disk labelled "Windows Vista drivers" then use that instead of the other one. Also looking on the manufacturer's support website can help too.

Not only are "DX10" mode effects possible in DX9 via a hack, but Windows XP can run Crysis up to TWICE as fast as Vista with the same exact settings and hardware. but the MacPro is not a gaming computer, its a workstation so why are you trying to compare the 2, the closes thing to a mid-tower is a 24inch imac with core 2 extreme with ati 2600 hd but MacPro can hold up to 4 video cards, maybe not the 8800's in sli or 2900 hd in crossfire but the MacPro can hold 4 video cards.
