I should also mention that I have heard chris here talk about the use of xp in 2009 like it's a bad thing. I find 10 to 15% of people love vista, and it works for them. But 85 to 90% absolutely hate it.
When you think about it though, 10% are not happy with Vista, that is A LOT of people! More so when you take into account that the majority of computer users aren't that knowledgeable on computers, so won't know a good OS if it bit them on the face.
Sorry to burst your bubble ccowell, but I tend not to base facts upon what microsoft claims. As I said in my other comment about xp drivers not being made availiable for new computers, ms is making it so you're stuck with vista. It's simply their only way of selling vista these days, and if people had a choice, they would choose xp. Take away xp as an option.... you see my point. So this said, of course microsoft is going to say only 10 percent arent happy with vista. anything to sell it.
10% of all there users being dissatisfied with Vista is ALOT of people. Even though Microsoft may of lied on the figures to make them more on there favour, 10% dissatisfied is still millions of users.
Although, it may be worth noting that every license of Windows 7 will allow you to use Windows XP. At least Microsoft have been listening to what the users want, finally!
I do computer repair, and when a customer is looking to buy a new computer, getting winxp as an operating system on the new system is now VERY hard. Dell, compaq, hp, are making it so xp drivers arent even availiable for the new computers in stores. This is limiting your choice to vista only. Vista in my experience is too resource hungry, and too many issues with older software etc. My advice to get an xp capable machine is to simply build a custom from scratch computer.
My iMac will run any commercial game, on any OS. That's no where NEAR shitty. Some products are overhyped, but, mostly by fans. I'm not part of the whole Mac cult, nor I'm I a part of the PC cult. They both have their retards... But you can never argue that Windows is a better made OS, never.
got 2 new vista pc's this month, a laptop, and a desktop for gaming. The desktop needs rebooting about 4 or five times a day!!! my old xp desktop would go for weeks without needing to reboot. Vista came with both my new pc's. The laptop although slower, is more stabe by far. I guess its just pot luck if you get a good setup.
A 1.8GHZ Core 2 Duo outperforms a P4 at any speed...even in Notepad. It's all about Clocks per cycle, cache speed, cache size, FSB speed, etc.
The main reasons for a new PC to be slow is that if you buy a new PC, what about the real BLOATWARE? Norton Internet Security, and all the other bullsh!t with it...that's what makes Vista slow. That's why I download a Vista OS off a TORRENT and use the LEGIT key on the COA sticker.
Damn, how come macs run good with the hardware they are given and windows based computers need tweeks. Even if you get a computer with the same specs as macs..its wont cost less...and maybe not run as good. MS should make their own hardware.
The apple hardware is made for the apple OS, of course it would work. If MS made there own hardware then all the current hard ware makers would turn to Linux or something.
Vista is great if all you want to do is type in notepad, do a google search, and play spider solitaire. Anyone who actually uses their computer for anything important doesn't like vista. Fuck, it uses a gig of ram just sitting there! People buy these awesome quad-core computers with 8GB of ram to run applications, not just an OS!!!
Vista sucks balls. I was really pissed off with the first service pack. It was nothing but a piece of software to prevent piracy and a collection of the updates you could get from windows update without installing the service pack anyway. I'll never upgrade to vista. I'm a computer repair tech and the most frequent thing I do is wipe Vista off of new computers that my clients buy and put on XP.
I want to like Vista but not for what it currently costs and doesn't deliver, and not right now. Vista might make more sense in a year or two when majority of its problems are fixed (if they are fixed). Sure, XP had problems at launch too and there were many advocates of sticking with 98 but it did not have NEARLY as many problems and many articles actually complimented XP on numerous improvements, including speed and stability, unlike with Vista right now.
Moreover, I don't care what an "average" consumer wants or what Microsoft's mainstream market evaluation is. I will state that XP is currently BETTER and FASTER than Vista because I've tried both and because I'm thoughtful. I don't want to change everyone's mind but I will share my knowledge, which someone else will pick up and share with others.
Also, in your other video you talk about OS X's SpotLight feature being the best thing since sliced bread. Amazing! Hope it's better than being able to run majority of games. Even many ppl who buy Vista preinstalled PCs often remove it and install XP from their older CDs, when they find out how buggy Vista is.
Chris seems to talk down to people like they were children, even when he tries to take opposite sides for the sake of an argument. He reminds me of clueless Bill O'Reilly when he talks about Iraq. Chris, $500 price tag for Ultimate is part of the deal, and no, MS did not deliver what they promised. They advertise Vista as a better OS than XP, which it is not because it's slower, buggier and less compatible with hardware and games. Don't turn into a Microsoft's or even Apple's marketing shill.
I have been using XP Pro since it came out. I got to know the features quite well. I bought two systems with Vista basic on both of them, a laptop, and a desktop. I have to say I am very happy with Vista.

I am just sticking to Linux, and playing around with Workbench on my Amiga 1200 :) Never want to touch Windows again, unless its for the "occasional" game.
Windows Vista limits what you can do with your own machine, they pretty much tell you what software you can and cannot run. It's too controlling and they spy on you with it. I will never use Windows Vista. It was also sold "half assed" Stick with XP, mac or Linux
I bet that Windows 7 will be a hell of a lot better than vista because of all of the complaints with Vista. Microsoft will realize that if they don't turn this around that they will be killed by Apple and just crash. I'm still an Xp/Linux user and I will wait for either a miracle service pack for vista or the next operating system release from Microsoft.
Vista frustrates me. I am a gamer. All of my games run either a little slower or a lot slower.I just had to re-buy new versions of programmes I bought. I had the beta but the some of the hardware I had that worked with the beta does not work with vista retail. Also I'm having problems with itunes and SATA drivers. It's Oct 2007. I expect more.
I just think consumers just simply want a product that's worth every penny they spend. They shouldn't have to be ripped off at their expense so corporations can profit big time like M$.

Yes, that's true, it has lotsa lotsa lotsa junk codes on top of codes that makes it bloated and fat, forcing consumers to upgrade hardware where they get milked for every penny they have.
I have to say that when I tried my friends vista err semi portable computer? (too hot for lap, too bulky to carry to class) I did enjoy the new and updated version of solitaire. I did not enjoy when it crashed when I plugged my iPod into it though ^_^.
The dude complaining about Vista is 100% right. Vista has been nothing but lies. Vista is slower than XP, DX10 is a joke, it's nothing but a cosmetic makeover.
Wrong. Have you even taken the time to read through the websites showing side-by-side image and performance comparisons?? Try guru3d(dot)com. Not only are "DX10" mode effects possible in DX9 via a hack, but Windows XP can run Crysis up to TWICE as fast as Vista with the same exact settings and hardware. Another site you can go to is tweakguides(dot)com.. You really should do research before making assumptions.
Guess what, if you downgrade to WIndows 98 you can save even more memory! You see, thats the point of a new OS. It is designed for NEW computers, with NEW hardware. People who had the brains to look ahead know that it was to be expected that Vista required more then XP. I even saw some kind of moron here on Youtube who said Vista sucked because it didn't run on his PC. When I asked what hardware he has, he said his PC had 512 MB RAM. Its like trying to drive a Porche with a lawnmower engine.
Windows Vista is basically the Hindenburg; it's huge and bloated with an oversized memory footprint, but it looks nice. Giant disaster, MS's worst OS to date.
GO VISTA!!! wooo! sorry guys i know how bad is it but all those problems i was able to solve and manged to survive and use vista on a base to base aset. it's verystable to me only thing is that it's robing my FPS during a game
Chris the only problem i have with Vista on my desktop and notebook is the lag vista can give you i find that on my note book the Nvidia graphics drive can also crash but chris i love it 100% better than XP
chris pirillo has experience with windows and hes had many BSOD's with vista, the only way to use vista is at a minimum don't play heaps of games and don't surf the web every day simple, you can live with a windows computer for ages but vista is just weird not just for good people, sorry for the big reply but seeing that is kinda annoying when people put in the two cents and they really don't know enough to have a good comment.
it's a fact that leopard or tiger leaves vista and xp in the dust, and like chris said if Microsoft windows 7 doesn't meet everyone expectations windows is DOOMED.
all apple has to do is make a cheaper mac pro that can be customized with 2 graphics cards that can be easily swapped out to take care of the hardcore gamers.
but the MacPro is not a gaming computer, its a workstation so why are you trying to compare the 2, the closes thing to a mid-tower is a 24inch imac with core 2 extreme with ati 2600 hd but MacPro can hold up to 4 video cards, maybe not the 8800's in sli or 2900 hd in crossfire but the MacPro can hold 4 video cards.
Really there should be a new Vista for notebooks alone, some of the lowest priced notebooks can not handle Vista, well even some of the desktops can't its just way too slow, but like i said on the last Vista topic, if you planing on buying a lowest priced notebook just buy a mac, i know mac can be a little more but in the long run its going be worth the money.

Software configs ! Its just amazing why people think it will work out of the box like a Mac . The only reason why Macs work is because there
isnt Thousands and thousands of different Configurations. They have a pre-set spec and they make the operating system around the system to make it
fully functional. Correct me if im wrong in some cases. Im more than happy to tell half the world how much better Vista is compared to XP and also
how and why it has been created.

Also , Id like to note about the MSconfig config about all the cores, I have tested this on my machine (E6600 2.4Ghz @ 3.4Ghz) and there is more

Vista owns, there is more features then just a GUI change.
Zoiked 4 years ago
Yes, that's true, it has lotsa lotsa lotsa junk codes on top of codes that makes it bloated and fat, forcing consumers to upgrade hardware where they get milked for every penny they have.

I get 10,000 fps in notepad LOL
but what the guy was saying about processor speed was crap,
even though there is less megahertz (oh dear the MHz myth again)
the core 2 architecture owns the p4 netburst
johnaiton 4 years ago
the hardware requirements for games is higher on vista
that's why it sucks,
I'll stick to xp which works great and has better performance
johnaiton 4 years ago
vista owns
i have it and it's so nice
pancake292 4 years ago 3
I have about 8 Windows computers, and one MacBook. I'd keep the MacBook over all the other computers.
larry50 4 years ago
Then enjoy your macbook and give me them Windows Computers.
Zoiked 4 years ago
I think vista is great It's just the drivers available that kinda sucks, there is hardly any for vista, for what I use anyway!

I got vista ultimate for 100€....
OEM-Licenses FTW

I have to say that when I tried my friends vista err semi portable computer? (too hot for lap, too bulky to carry to class) I did enjoy the new and updated version of solitaire. I did not enjoy when it crashed when I plugged my iPod into it though ^_^.

The dude complaining about Vista is 100% right. Vista has been nothing but lies. Vista is slower than XP, DX10 is a joke, it's nothing but a cosmetic makeover.
Blacksun1942 4 years ago 2
Not to mention I just downloaded the Crysis Demo and it runs like sh*t on Vista.
Nick1814 4 years ago
Nick1814 Crysis is optimized for windows vista, So the only way it runs horrible is the system requirements is not up to par.
TripLeSh0t 4 years ago
Blacksun1942 4 years ago
Guess what, if you downgrade to WIndows 98 you can save even more memory! You see, thats the point of a new OS. It is designed for NEW computers, with NEW hardware. People who had the brains to look ahead know that it was to be expected that Vista required more then XP. I even saw some kind of moron here on Youtube who said Vista sucked because it didn't run on his PC. When I asked what hardware he has, he said his PC had 512 MB RAM. Its like trying to drive a Porche with a lawnmower engine.
Agentbromsnor 2 years ago
crysis demo runs like shit on all modern hardware, theres no gpu/cpu combo that can max it out. Crytek said that themselves
shakmaster99 4 years ago
at the highest resolutions, yes
but at 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024
a midrange system would max it well
if the multiplayer beta is anything to go by
johnaiton 4 years ago
Crytek actually said it would be able to run on "high settings" with a 7800GTX several months ago... Clearly that's not the case. :P
Blacksun1942 4 years ago
I always felt that Vista was just XP Service Pack 2 skinned.
zc456 4 years ago
Windows Vista is basically the Hindenburg; it's huge and bloated with an oversized memory footprint, but it looks nice. Giant disaster, MS's worst OS to date.
Blacksun1942 4 years ago
i dont even use windows, still love these shows
stickhrk 4 years ago
i see absolutely nothing wrong with vista, i think its faster than xp.
macerator23 4 years ago 5
Huh? It's by no means faster than XP.
macflyfilm 4 years ago
I know Aero is a hog, but what about the OSX transparency? I'm guessing it runs fine.
vahnx1337 4 years ago
Apple had Aqua before Aero, and it's no a featherweight, but it is compared to Aero.
macflyfilm 4 years ago
I hate it when those morons interrupt Chris when he's talking.
RickyTomatoes 4 years ago 5
So true. Windows 7 must be radical or Apple / Linux / Unix will really start to gain market share.
jeromezone 4 years ago
for the money a new puter costs you should have a choice what operating system you want win xp or vista...
acehydro06 4 years ago 6
This comment has received too many negative votes show
why is this still being discussed.
just switch to OS X and enjoy it.
windows vista will never be able to compete with OS X.

Chris the only problem i have with Vista on my desktop and notebook is the lag vista can give you i find that on my note book the Nvidia graphics drive can also crash but chris i love it 100% better than XP
arranmc182 4 years ago 2
yeah, vista was good..if we had installed all the high-end hardwares available..
It will run smoothly..
Viruses and trojans from external devices can't intrude directly..

vista is good for people who have experience with windows
kemar911 4 years ago 5
chris pirillo has experience with windows and hes had many BSOD's with vista, the only way to use vista is at a minimum don't play heaps of games and don't surf the web every day simple, you can live with a windows computer for ages but vista is just weird not just for good people, sorry for the big reply but seeing that is kinda annoying when people put in the two cents and they really don't know enough to have a good comment.

vista is fucking gay as hell...UBUNTU OR DIE!
bravotoosix 4 years ago
Not sure why people hate vista. For me it is running almost 3 times faster than XP
Then again, I'm running an AMD X2 5600+ AM2, 3gb ram. So I dont know.

Indeed.

it's a fact that leopard or tiger leaves vista and xp in the dust, and like chris said if Microsoft windows 7 doesn't meet everyone expectations windows is DOOMED.

all apple has to do is make a cheaper mac pro that can be customized with 2 graphics cards that can be easily swapped out to take care of the hardcore gamers.
SuCKeRPunCH187 4 years ago
but the MacPro is not a gaming computer, its a workstation so why are you trying to compare the 2, the closes thing to a mid-tower is a 24inch imac with core 2 extreme with ati 2600 hd but MacPro can hold up to 4 video cards, maybe not the 8800's in sli or 2900 hd in crossfire but the MacPro can hold 4 video cards.
34skyline 4 years ago
agree
zk43a 4 years ago
Really there should be a new Vista for notebooks alone, some of the lowest priced notebooks can not handle Vista, well even some of the desktops can't its just way too slow, but like i said on the last Vista topic, if you planing on buying a lowest priced notebook just buy a mac, i know mac can be a little more but in the long run its going be worth the money.
ursad 4 years ago
You know going into Vista that it is nothing more then a pretty version of XP with tons and tons of bugs
