Great champion last owner-driver champion. Davey did have a great year but this was a win-win situation for the Ford fans and for all of NASCAR both guys were great guys who's careers end way to short.
This race was Jeff Gordons first race and Richard Pettys last race. 5 drivers could have taken the title that day. AK was a humble champ. go underdog!
I remember coming home from school and my brother told me that Alan Kulwicki had died. It was April Fool's Day and I thought he was telling a big fat one, I wish he would have been telling me a big fat one. Alan defied the odds. He gave Junior Johnson a big face melter.
Allan was a true champion. I still remember the day he left the milwaukee mile in wisc to head down south to race nascar. He use to drive the wlpx car #99. I miss him
this was one of those things that u didnt realize how great of an accomplishment it was till years later, everyone thought it would be elliot or allison in 92, no one really expected or wanted alan to win, im glad he did.
i really wish i could double-like this post. it describes my feelings about alans entire career. he was the rightful champion, because he won. and im the biggest awesome bill fan there is, if i had realized how special kulwicki was, i wouldve been more upset when he passed, but davey passed away right after that so that sort of overshadowed him at the time.
Alan ALWAYS had a comb in his car. He didn't want to go on camera with messy hair. He was the definition of classy. He is sorely missed by his longtime fans. Even to this day.
Great Video!

Alan is a class act, but Davey Allison was the true champion for 1992

Lots of history in this race.

As a former Wisconsinite myself this is a tie for my favorite NASCAR moment right there with Dale SR's Daytona 500. Rest well to both A.K. and SR.

I just love that he combed his hair before getting out of his car. That's just funny.

Can you imagine if he was still alive, running a kick-ass team that would rival Hendrick, Roush and DEI?
