One of the finest bluesmen around. I travelled from Wales to Austria to see him play many years ago. Worth the trip....but he turned up in tiny Welsh folk club (Hen&Chickens, Abergavenny) about 10 miles from my then home a few months later!!! Still, great to catch him twice within a year!
Hans is a very impressive performer. I have a number of his tunes on iTunes. I run his tunes on my boombox and play my accordions with him. It is really a fun thing to do. Not only am I amazed at his skill with the guitar, I am amazed that he has a "native" command of English. One would never suspect that he is a Dutch national based on his speech. He truly has a down home, Southern feel for the blues.
Hardly anything he can't do on guitar, whether it's rhythm, soloing, melody or bass part, it's all there + drumming with foot while singing/harmonica.
Saw Hans recently live solo in Ruiselede, loved his music for longer. If ever you have a chance to go and see him play, don't miss it. check out his Skip James covers/versions, you'll see why and that's just the tip of the iceberg. The blues don't come much better than this nowadays.
Lord have mercy!! A baratone with a slide guitar singing the blues live!! It don't get any better than this!! I have only recently discovered Hans, and I can't get enough. Thanks for posting this.
I'm really glad to read your message. This is the purpose of my Video Channel, to let people discover fantastic talents and Hans Theessink is for sure the greatest "lesser known" artist that I ever met ! Thanks for listening :)
I was at an awesome show of his last night. I think he was wearing the same shirt! Such an amazing musician.

Hans played these when we saw him in Colchester 3 weeks ago, he got us all to sing along to Bourgeois Blues. He is just quality and great fun.

A great bit of playing. He's always quality and deserves to be much more well known internationally. One of my own favourites.
