I'm an italian and I gotta say that not only this world cup was fixed by the hosts government or the FIFA. Just think about this:
1934 in Italy, Italy wins the cup after beating Spain in the quarters, and Spain was without Zamora, that was paid by Mussolini to say he was injured. Also, Mussolini had a lunch with the final's and semifinal's refrees just before the match.
Instead, in 1938, Italy won the world cup against everyone and everything: hated by all the world, defeated France in his home.

I don't know what all the debate is about. The early WC's weren't true WC's anyway. The WC hadn't yet become the prestige event it is today. The 1930 WC is held in South America & all the European powers stay away. The 1934 WC is held in Europe & the South American countries stay away. Travelling 2 months by boat just wasn't worth it.

Both countries felt that this competition was beneath them as they played Continental teams and beat them regularly. Either country could have taken one or both of the inaugural WC's. By the time England deigned to grace the WC with it's presence, the rest of the World had closed the gap & the USA gave them a rude awakening.

If they don’t do it it’s not because they love Italy but because they should then coherently withdraw all the other crooked/irregular Cups of the WC history, like for instance 1954, 1962, 1966, 1974, 1978, 1986, 1990, 1998 and most of all 2002. @BerettaModello38 but how ever, in 1934 the FIFA rules determined that formely foreing players could only play in the national Team when they haven´t played in the last 3 years for they former national team and also have lived for at least 3 years in the new country.....the above mencioned players don´t comply with that rule, so it was illegal they played for Italy...check "International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS)" but this was only the smaler part of the whole betray !

If they don’t do it it’s not because they love Italy but because they should then coherently withdraw all the other crooked/irregular Cups of the WC history, like for instance 1954, 1962, 1966, 1974, 1978, 1986, 1990, 1998 and most of all 2002. By now it’s clear that Italy is just a scapegoat for all football evils.
Back in 1934 crooking was simply more awkwardly done and therefore visible, that's all.

The betray starts that the best italians players in 1934 were sourthamericans and played before for their own national teams Argentina and Brasil. According to the FIFA Rules they never could play for Italy:

Amphilóquio Marques "Filo" = brasilian
But this was only the smaller part of the fraud.

They were Agentinian but with Iitalian origin: a player should always be given the chance to play either for is native country or for the country of his origin. Argentina, as a country, would not even exist without Spanish and Italian immigrants.

It has always been full of Italians even though it has belonged also to other countries. Maradona is very bound to this nation and he called one of his daughters “Dalma”. In no other country (except Argentina) was Maradona appreciated like in Italy, certainly not in Spain. Is this enough for you?

If we take our responsibility the others must take theirs. I'm an italian and I gotta say that not only this world cup was fixed by the hosts government or the FIFA. Just think about this:
1934 in Italy, Italy wins the cup after beating Spain in the quarters, and Spain was without Zamora, that was paid by Mussolini to say he was injured. Also, Mussolini had a lunch with the final's and semifinal's refrees just before the match.
Instead, in 1938, Italy won the world cup against everyone and everything: hated by all the world, defeated France in his home.
