It was a shallow marriage from the outset. He was never in love. He was a big baby who wanted sex and looking after from a beautiful woman. She wanted the inheritance and so fed, fucked and cleaned up after him 24 hours a day. I guess I have issues with tartan as well. People who call kilts 'skirts' make my Shoot to Kill list. And I suppose if people insist on calling tartan 'plaid', then at least pronounce the 'ai' so it rhymes with 'paid' and not 'pad'. Also, I'm with Bill Maher when it comes to anyone who qualifies a statement with, "Well I'm a Christian". We differ on whether they are counted as Christian or not. When trying to find objective definitions for such groups, level of aggression and denominational fiefdoms should not be our concern. The Westboro Baptist Church meet the broadest definition in that they believe in the key holy text, and that Jesus is the Son of God. Similarly we can't just discount Muslims who kill people for political convenience - if they believe in God, The Quran and Mohammed they're part of the category.

I don't think that's playing fair when it comes to categorisation. Then it just becomes a battle between those who say "Oh and one of the criteria is you're super-nice to everyone", skewing the numbers to their advantage instead of addressing the actual tenets and behavioural direction of the people in the movement, and changing those beliefs and the labels accordingly, so that every ideological community shifts the burden of responsibility.

It'd be selective of the facts for the Conservative Party to say, "Oh and you're not a Tory if you kill people" when the only requirement is someone who agrees with enough of the manifesto to give them their vote. After admitting parts of a ideological demographic commit immoral actions (i.e.; the intellectual honesty to say there are Christians, Muslims, Hindus, and anti-theists who cause harm) then the debate can begin about whether or not that ideology is the main cause.

If religious figures weren't subject to interpretation, there wouldn't be various denominations. It is not the role of the state, its census taker or any other official survey, simply dividing religious demographics to start engaging in a theological debate about 'Who is a wolf?', 'What counts as fighting?', 'Does this quote from Christ redact that one?', 'Who is Mohammed's true successor?', etc. Otherwise there would be no basic starting point for how to identify communities.

Don't know. What I do know is that for the action of trying to see Paris Hilton naked, a few Christians view that as 'unChristian' enough to warrant exclusion from the group, many view it as a sin but petty enough to be easily forgiven and still counted, and others who don't think it's a problem at all. The reason estimates for total number of Christians usually result in the answer 2 billion is because they didn't make the base criteria as narrow as 'People and Verses on Sex'.

You don't effectively examine behavioural trends and problems by starting with a narrow personal definition. You start with the broadest definition possible to see who agrees on the basics, like 'Do you accept the Bible?'. Then if trying to identify sub-groups like literalists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Wahhabists, Sufis, etc., you drill down into decreasing increments like version, book, chapter, verse, interpretation, to identify sub-groups based on more nuanced details.
