People can say bass is easy. It's their opinion. But those who know music in a half-way decent fashion know that bass can be just as complex, if not more-so, than many instruments. And not all rock has simple bass lines. That's just as much a generalized statement the last.

Oh, awesome cover, btw. Try to hold that D on the A string a bit longer. It sounds a bit like you're cutting it off. Just something minor, though. Excellent overall!

In my opinion the bass is pretty easy when you start because you learn to play the easy songs, than i think its easier than playing guitar in the beginning, but when you are getting on a higher level with the bass i think its even harder. And about the rock music is also true because alot of populair rock bands well mostly emo have got really easy bass lines.

Be careful saying things like that. I'm a lead guitarist myself, and bass isn't as easy as it may look. It's a hell fo a lot of fun, though, and is a completely different universe than guitar. There may be aspects of bass that are "easier" than guitar, but it isn't neccessarily easier.

Some bass is easy but funk and metal bass can be much harder than any other instruments. i play in a band and we were all learning a song and the bass took me almost and hour to learn about a minutes worth of the song cause it was so hard

i learned by my self, and i would say, that its definetly possible. get guitar pro and start with songs of the bloohound gang, go over blink 182 to ratm and metallica, by covering those songs you lern a lot!

i've learned how to play bass guitar by myself too.. i think blink 182 is not very good to cover, because they have too easy songz.. for beginners ok, it can help to train speed, but later it sucks.. personally i think, hat red hot chili peppers can teach a lot.. of course it's my opinion and You can not agree with it.

lol, i guess hysteria is like, the pinnacle of one's bass playing abilities.

If you put your mind to it, you can play hysteria in about a day of 2 of hard training, provided you know how to hold the damn bass. But even then, you're only parroting the song, and you really probably wont learn much at all. Look at my vid; they're the perfect example of just reading tabs.

Guitar is made to play hard stuff, I'd like to see a guitarist go shred on bass, on a 4 string bass. Overrall if you were to take a guitar song and convert it to a 4 string bass, yeah, bass is harder. Guitar is a great instrument, it just has smaller frets so you can shred and play chords easier.

Bass and guitar are two different instruments. You need both. A bass solo is hard to come by at times, but a good one is incredible. Even the simple intro for JET's are you gonna be my girl is known by almost everyone who listens to a decent amount of music. Whether its Flea(bassist of red hot chili peppers) playing crazy bass lines or the cool and basic rhythems that Sting lays out, its really very simple. Bass is beautiful.
