  • Holy shit whered this man learn to play. He's got such unique playing, his tone is flawless. Listen to that phrasing.

  • ลึก มีมิติ เป็นคนบลูส์ สุดยอดในยุคหลังจริงๆ

    สู่สุคติ ฌอน

  • I had a chance to see Sean when he was just 14 and a couple of times after that,I miss him dearly and to call him a musical genius is an understatement at best!!!! He was a purist in every sense of the word,no one else I've ever heard could squeeze a note out of a guitar like him or SRV,rest in peace my brothers

  • thumbs up if vertical horizon led you here

  • I like this dudes voice, but there's something about his playing Im just not sure about. He's great at guitar, but, it just feels messy to me. Though it could be that he's unique, he doesnt play like anybody I've seen. Very unconventional. It's strange, maybe it's an aquired taste.

  • @acousticgrooven I know what you mean man. I personally like his playing a lot, reminds me of Peter Green in a weird way!

  • The most astounding performance I've ever seen. Everything I love about music....

  • Rarely in this blink-of-an-eye life are we, as people lucky enough to be touched and witness true greatness. I feel completely overwhelmed when I watch Sean play guitar. I have never in my life seen such true beauty in music, such a pure spiritual connection between a man and his guitar. Only guitarists will know what I mean. Such an unbelievable tragedy.

  • Thanks So much for posting these videos Of Sean at the Living Room, absolutely loving them, soaking it all up :)

  • I just found this guy.. So glad I did. What a great loss. It really pisses me off, by the time I find a REAL blues player.. I find out he has passed.. What a tragic shame.. He had it.. What ever IT is.. He had it..

  • I can hardly watch these videos because I get so damn mad that he was taken away. This guy is what the blues is all about in it's purest form.

  • the guy was just able to.....feel.

  • Que maestro Sean! Lo descubri hace muy poco y no puedo para de escucharlo! Muchas Gracias por subir esto!!

  • old skool killer stuff :)

    thankyou!

  • amazing !!!!

  • Nice blues voice too

  • So Sad he's no longer with us.....but his music will live forever.

  • Utterly brilliant. Great guitar and great vocals, too. And his guitar tone was to die for.

  • one of the strongest and most beautiful performance I've ever heard by a blues guitar player

  • Hurts so good!

  • Your video collection of Sean's performances will prove to be an important piece of music history.

  • Definitely Blows Holes in the Theory that "White People Can't Play the Blues"

  • @harhar58 Amen!

  • outstanding feeling.

  • He plays fingerstyle! A monster.

  • THIS IS STONE COLD KILLER

  • the very definition of dynamics

    RIP

  • I seen this guy many times and he never disappointed. Had the pleasure of making his acquaintance and found him to be the nicest guy you'd ever meet. The pride of Philly. RIP Sean. You are missed.

  • he liked bb king

  • WOW!!! I really wish I saw him.....

  • WOW!!!!

  • You have to give Stevie and Eric thier due , but this is "the real deal!!!

  • Check out that lick around :56...that's slick!

  • impresionante! uno de los mejores guitarristas! eso es blues!

  • Does anyone know what kind of amp he used?

  • @blunote4 probably used fender blackface combos. i've seen a couple of videos of him sitting next to one.

  • A true genius, I was lucky enough to have enjoyed seeing him here in Atlanta

always with his passion, soul, and love the sound

    peace 2 u Sean

  • sicuramente il miglior cantante chitarrista

    blues/soul una grande perdita

    ciao SEAN rip

  • He's the best! Amazing how he plays the guitar. I'm sad to say I never saw him playing. Actually the first time I heard his music, he had already passsed away.....RIP Sean

  • !st saw Sean when he was 16 or 17. He was backing Susan Tedeschi on a blues cruise. Had never heard of either of them. Became instant fans.....

  • Amazing talent!! sadly missed..

  • The world is / was filled with blues musicians, and musicians in general. Some are good, some are great, and some transcend so far above it all that the only conclusion is his/her talent is from God. That was Sean.

  • @kuhchicken Most of the difference is in the amount of practice and passion for the instrument.

  • I think it's quite insulting to Sean, and the memory of him to say that his talent is from God. Quite frankly, he put in a ridiculous amount of work to get where he was, and saying he simply got it from God, is an insult to that. You're baiscaly spitting on his memory, on his hard work.

So please refrain from pulling religion into this, Sean was an absolute legend, and I'd prefer not to see you pull him down like that. Respect him for the work he did, and his amazing music. Nothing less.

  • @JilaX

    exactly.

  • @JilaX perfect

  • jimi hendrix play'ed thes one with bb king after he got famous

  • His playing kind of makes my ears wiggle.

  • I watch these videos and smile ad cry at the same time! I miss my friend and mourn the loss for the blues world, and smile because I knew an amazing talent and am thankful for every second w spent togteher.

We'll see each other again some day,and until that day I will keep your memory alive. PROMISE! XOXOXOXO DAR

  • I am with you. I followed Sean for years. First saw him in 1999. Every chance I got, I went to see him. He was magic. I drug all my friends out to see him. He had me hard. And now, when I watch these vids, I smile...and I cry...I have never done that for any other musician......well, maybe a little for Janis....Sean just had my heart

  • this guy was incredibly good, a genius

  • this guy was a monster-talent, what a loss

  • really good tone

  • Such a sad loss. Sean was as sweet a person as he was a player/singer.

  • This is the best blues I have heard in a long time. It seems that the creativity in blues has come down to people playing all the old blues licks, (SRV, Joe Bonamassa, etc.) but I have never heard most of this completely original. Absolutely outstanding.

  • So true - SRV bores me to tears.

  • Oh, I still love them. . . But I value players like Sean much more

  • truly fantastic!!!!

  • Wow, this is amazing.

Such fludidity and intensity in his playing. Sounds a lot like Otis Rush and Ronnie Earl.

  • I can't believe people don't give this guy the credit he deserves...

I've been playing the guitar for around 3 years now, and I love my Custom Made White Texas SRV Stratocaster with all my heart...but if I knew Sean, I would give my guitar to him in an instant...thats the level of intimacy I feel with this guy

  • It's a shame. This video proves without a doubt that he's the best the blues guitarist we've seen in generations...

I've only been at it for almost 2.5 myself, but I know exactly what you mean. I just feel his music 100%. It's just not describeable

  • I can't even begin to learn to play because I can't stop watching the videos of his music. They're addictive.

  • This is AWESOME !! Great version of this classic tune. I saw Sean long ago when he was backing Susan Tedeschi and then a couple years later when he came through Detroit. The dude just blew me away with his overall style. He was a natural and will truly be missed.

  • Some people try to have soul. Some just do.

    RIP Sean.

  • Amen

  • Very thanks for all this videos!!!!

Have you got another videos of Sean Costello?

    RIP

  • rest in peace

    THE BEST

  • I miss u already. RIP

  • Rest in Peace - you will be missed!

  • Oh man!

  • Sean Costello is so good but why he's not famous? I'm from Holland and nobody knows him?:S

  • Tell people about him

  • The intro reminds me of Mike Bloomfields If You Love These Blues.

  • Dude so true. He reminds me a lot of Michael...

  • zack: Michael who? Bloomfield?

  • he does kind of sound like bloomfield his vibratos very similiar

  • back again, I just have to say that Sean is SO much fun to watch live. This is a really cool vid anthony! ty

  • the man lives the blues...it's all up in him!

  • goooooooood LORRRRRRD, chile! Sean's voice just gets better and better. Never mind his guitar....cool vid....love that gold top
