I had a chance to see Sean when he was just 14 and a couple of times after that,I miss him dearly and to call him a musical genius is an understatement at best!!!! He was a purist in every sense of the word,no one else I've ever heard could squeeze a note out of a guitar like him or SRV,rest in peace my brothers
I like this dudes voice, but there's something about his playing Im just not sure about. He's great at guitar, but, it just feels messy to me. Though it could be that he's unique, he doesnt play like anybody I've seen. Very unconventional. It's strange, maybe it's an aquired taste.
Rarely in this blink-of-an-eye life are we, as people lucky enough to be touched and witness true greatness. I feel completely overwhelmed when I watch Sean play guitar. I have never in my life seen such true beauty in music, such a pure spiritual connection between a man and his guitar. Only guitarists will know what I mean. Such an unbelievable tragedy.
I just found this guy.. So glad I did. What a great loss. It really pisses me off, by the time I find a REAL blues player.. I find out he has passed.. What a tragic shame.. He had it.. What ever IT is.. He had it..
I seen this guy many times and he never disappointed. Had the pleasure of making his acquaintance and found him to be the nicest guy you'd ever meet. The pride of Philly. RIP Sean. You are missed.
He's the best! Amazing how he plays the guitar. I'm sad to say I never saw him playing. Actually the first time I heard his music, he had already passsed away.....RIP Sean
The world is / was filled with blues musicians, and musicians in general. Some are good, some are great, and some transcend so far above it all that the only conclusion is his/her talent is from God. That was Sean.
I think it's quite insulting to Sean, and the memory of him to say that his talent is from God. Quite frankly, he put in a ridiculous amount of work to get where he was, and saying he simply got it from God, is an insult to that. You're baiscaly spitting on his memory, on his hard work.
So please refrain from pulling religion into this, Sean was an absolute legend, and I'd prefer not to see you pull him down like that. Respect him for the work he did, and his amazing music. Nothing less.
I watch these videos and smile ad cry at the same time! I miss my friend and mourn the loss for the blues world, and smile because I knew an amazing talent and am thankful for every second w spent togteher.
We'll see each other again some day,and until that day I will keep your memory alive. PROMISE! XOXOXOXO DAR
I am with you. I followed Sean for years. First saw him in 1999. Every chance I got, I went to see him. He was magic. I drug all my friends out to see him. He had me hard. And now, when I watch these vids, I smile...and I cry...I have never done that for any other musician......well, maybe a little for Janis....Sean just had my heart
This is the best blues I have heard in a long time. It seems that the creativity in blues has come down to people playing all the old blues licks, (SRV, Joe Bonamassa, etc.) but I have never heard most of this completely original. Absolutely outstanding.
I can't believe people don't give this guy the credit he deserves...
I've been playing the guitar for around 3 years now, and I love my Custom Made White Texas SRV Stratocaster with all my heart...but if I knew Sean, I would give my guitar to him in an instant...thats the level of intimacy I feel with this guy
This is AWESOME !! Great version of this classic tune. I saw Sean long ago when he was backing Susan Tedeschi and then a couple years later when he came through Detroit. The dude just blew me away with his overall style. He was a natural and will truly be missed.
I started getting chills from the first note man... I play a Les Paul too... Good vocal too.. Why are they featuring my crap? I love the B3... Lots of feeling... It just makes me feel good. When are you playing in Florida?
Holy shit whered this man learn to play. He's got such unique playing, his tone is flawless. Listen to that phrasing.
