He says he's nervous, but this is as relaxed as I've seen him speaking on-stage . . . usually when accepting awards or something, he just says, in a quiet little voice, "Thank you very much," and seems kind of rigid, etc. He seems more at ease in this clip.

Sorry, just now seeing your question. Michael received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Fisk University for his humanitarian work, not a medical doctor. In this photo he has on full academic regalia like professors wear at graduation ceremonies. People that receive honorary doctorates can be called Doctor. Bill Cosby is one of those people, also. Sometimes, he is called Dr. Cosby in real life.

United Negro College is not a place, it's a fund for African Americans to go to college. It's called the United Negro College Fund. In this video, Michael is at a ballroom inside the Sheraton Hotel in New York City, where he receives an honorary doctorates degree from Fisk University and the Frederick D. Patterson Award. This is also a special United Negro College Fund 44th Anniversary Dinner.
