dude i love the sound of your horn, I've got a Mk VII tenor could anyone recomend a good mouth piece. I play this with my jazz group @school, hopfully try and get some video's of us playing
Open to suggestions? You seem to have good control over your vibrato, but just make the vibrato 'waves' closer together. Will make for a very nice feathery vibrato :)
As delicious as ever CDD! Love your velvety sound. How I envy your tone!! One day if I can make my tenor sound half as good as that I'll be a happy sax player :-)
Mathew, I've been checking out lots of versions of this on the tube and yours is certainly one of the sweetest. Very nice. Is this a Hal Leonard backing track?
Our new weekly gig is an a fine real ale pub, I am more of a stella man (sorry) but, cos of driving I had to down 1 and half pints of some weak bitter. Went down well, good for reed moisture retention... I'll try the brandy....
A breathtakingly beautiful tune, Matt, and as always, delivered with tremendous care and perfection. Your sound on both low and upper registers is amazing. I remain much obliged.
Thanks YE, Much appreciated, actually the reed was about to go, you know, get really buzzy. Sometimes you get lucky moments like that. Today, new reed, yuk :-( I seem to go through a lot before I find one I like.
Cheers mate, I just move the camera to the least untidy part of the room :-) I have done some videoing for my wifes cookery stuff here, but she has yet to return the favour ..... :-(
Thanks David, my wife and I watched the film for the first time last night, superb. She has just learnt thetune on accordian, maybe we should duet on day :-0
Cheers ulli, the trick with subtone is a nice flexible reed and lots of abdominal breathing. I have always subtoned though, and it can be a curse too....
Depending on what I'm doing depends on whether or not I'll use subtone, really. It's great in this situation, and you sound very nice in the vid by the way. Excellent playing! I don't use subtone too often, though. I'm more into Rock on a saxophone. My favorite Rock solo is the one from Urgent by Foreigner played by Junior Walker
Not too far but they way you make your horn sound its worth the visit your stuff is real insparational I did not even like Black Orpeus untill I heard you playing it here its a very nice rendition
Great. Tenor saxophone is Kingston
