I guess chevy's z24 labeling as sport is the truth. my cav has 150hp stock. I'll do a 0-100 vid after I got some minor issues fixed on my car.

I bought it as my first car, and didnt know the last owner took the thermostat out. All that uncontrolled pressure in my radiator, and it heated up then blew up, and now that ive got a new radiator, and thermostat exhaust fumes are getting into my coolant, so something is wrong with my head, or my headgasket.
@linoleumshake Well the easiest way to bypass the speed limiter without a custom flashed ECU is to disable the VSS which in turn kills your speedometer & odometer. If your car is inspected and they see the vss has been disconnected or disabled it is considered odometer tampering even if you only did it once to try it out.. You cant legally sell the car and list the number the odometer says. if you dont know bout that rule you can get fucked. I was just saying... if you do sell. say miles unknown

I drive a 3.1 auto Z24 its fast it stays in tourqe range better then the 5speed. I have a 1990 5speed so i know the fact i have owed 4 of the V6 Z24s. V6 vs that 4cyl cav the V6 Z24 to much power because of its tourqe. I raced a Acura TL Type S from the start of a light i got him off the line when we raced up to 80 he was next to me and his has 282hp. So what a tourqey light car i have so think twice about a 4cyl car being next to a V6Z24 do not underestimate the POWER
3.1 autos are much much slower then the 3.1 5spd, you are right about the autos staying in the torque range longer but its also at top end much longer then the 5spd which it doesnt make much power on the top end... watch my 5spd V6Z24 0-110mph video

yeah its a v6 but it's also ten years older too. that is really close to my 4cyl i think too. the only part that would make me think yours is faster is between 70-80 mph. i shift and mine pigs out but yours waits to about 80 then you shift and it seems to pig out lol
yeah and i got like 4x more miles then you lol... but actually the 3.1 V6's dont make much top end power... they make most of the power between 2-4k rpm's and then crap out after 5k rpm's, my 0-60 time is 7.8 sec. but thats cuz i have a 5spd... the automatic 3.1's are really slow cuz they only have 3 gears...
These are quicker than most in its class. Go watch my beloved Chevy do 0-105 using launch control. 0-60 in 5.58 seconds. Stock and auto. It's not a cavy tho.

I have a 07 Cobalt 5 speed, my winter car. I also have a 02 Mustang GT 5 speed. In town, I make 300km per 45L of gas. On the highway, I make 550 per 45L. This is about 30k less than with my Cobalt! If we didn't have a winter, I would sell the Cobalt since it's not that fuel efficient and not much of a performer....
I used to walk si's all day long before I was supercharged now I run away from them they have NO TORQUE. torque is what matters till you spin the tires then HP takes over but I don't spin and have instant boost. 2.2 FTW!!
Ecotec Cavalier are slow economy cars, I agree. Mine's a 03 with under a grand in modifications (I,H,E, chipped) and it only does 0-60 in 6.8 sec, the 1/8 mile in 9.5 sec and the 1/4 in 14.8 @ 93.9 mph. It only gets to 138 mph in top speed runs. I miss my Mustangs ! But to go run errants and do the grocery...It's ok. I guess.

even if an auto doesnt let the car redline he could be manually shifting through the gears letting it rev that high but i doubt he could have preloaded an automatic transmission to that many rpms most torque converteres only hold a little over 2grand

lol, i have a 03 cavalier 5-speed and that is no auto, trust me. for starters if it were it would have an up shift signal. 2nd just autos with the shifter on this steering column have drive on the dash. finally my wife has an auto 04 cavalier and it does shift after the red... in fact the first time i floored it i thought it was gonna blow up, very awesome cars!
I love how my little Cavalier handles, even at 100 it's super easy to handle with no interference from the road. Mine is a stick shift though, I'll never own an automatic again, :p

Automatic is not neccesarily slower, if you understood how transmissions worked and wasn't so self-conscious of your driving you wouldn't feel the need to go round dissing automatic gearboxes.
there is this thing called a shift kit and trans brake that can make shifts and launches better than any manual transmission in a drag race. all other fields of racing sticks are king cause you can directly choose a gear and put it in the powerband easier than an auto. in drag racing auto is king. yes my cav is stock and slow but i have no problem making sticks look bad off the line at the strip ^ ^
Going round a track is a different matter. Depending on the type of automatic, no driver can change gear as quick. As you will know the VW DSG gearbox can change in under 10ms, and is mechanically driven (so there is no power loss through the torque converter), totally impossible for a driver to even depress the clutch in that time.
It seems that (most) people who diss automatic gearboxes often don't understand the workings of them, nor are very good drivers themselves, that is all.
yea but on a cavalier there are only 4 gears on an auto and 5 on a manual meaning the ratios on the manual are closer together and gives the manual faster acceleration

I used to walk si's all day long before I was supercharged now I run away from them they have NO TORQUE. torque is what matters till you spin the tires then HP takes over but I don't spin and have instant boost. 2.2 FTW!!

Ecotec Cavalier are slow economy cars, I agree. Mine's a 03 with under a grand in modifications (I,H,E, chipped) and it only does 0-60 in 6.8 sec, the 1/8 mile in 9.5 sec and the 1/4 in 14.8 @ 93.9 mph. It only gets to 138 mph in top speed runs. I miss my Mustangs ! But to go run errants and do the grocery...It's ok. I guess.

once the si finally gets going it goes compared to my car. after 60 it starts to pull away hard. now the "i" in i-VTEC was supposed to solve that problem but i guess it doesn't work as well as they had hoped. i'm sure the guy can drive the car, the new clutches on hondas are so easy you don't need to know stick to drive them

i see what youre coming from. but to put things into perspective, the 03 Si according to honda goes 15.8 sec in the 1/4 mile stock and thats w/ 20hp more than my cav, my 03 cav w/ a cold air intake goes 15.7 in the 1/4. and i doubt it made my motor gain 20hp. maybe you know of one of the people who can make the new Si's put down the #'s honda claims, but the people around here sure don't lol

even if an auto doesnt let the car redline he could be manually shifting through the gears letting it rev that high but i doubt he could have preloaded an automatic transmission to that many rpms most torque converteres only hold a little over 2grand

I have an 03 Cav Eco like this with I/H/E and 105k mi and it preloads to almost 3k.
It's also a lot faster than this... the GM Supercharger kit will help a ton though.

lol, i have a 03 cavalier 5-speed and that is no auto, trust me. for starters if it were it would have an up shift signal. 2nd just autos with the shifter on this steering column have drive on the dash. finally my wife has an auto 04 cavalier and it does shift after the red... in fact the first time i floored it i thought it was gonna blow up, very awesome cars!

Automatic is not neccesarily slower, if you understood how transmissions worked and wasn't so self-conscious of your driving you wouldn't feel the need to go round dissing automatic gearboxes.

there is this thing called a shift kit and trans brake that can make shifts and launches better than any manual transmission in a drag race. all other fields of racing sticks are king cause you can directly choose a gear and put it in the powerband easier than an auto. in drag racing auto is king. yes my cav is stock and slow but i have no problem making sticks look bad off the line at the strip ^ ^

Going round a track is a different matter. Depending on the type of automatic, no driver can change gear as quick. As you will know the VW DSG gearbox can change in under 10ms, and is mechanically driven (so there is no power loss through the torque converter), totally impossible for a driver to even depress the clutch in that time.
It seems that (most) people who diss automatic gearboxes often don't understand the workings of them, nor are very good drivers themselves, that is all.

but good job dissing my truck. yeah its a V6 but i get 22mpg with it average. and its also a fucking truck. since your obviously retarded, i will explain. truck has low gearing and a bed, no stupid you dont sleep in it, its to haul stuff. and trucks are made for pulling not for speed. some people just want their truck to be able to get up and go if they need to. thats why they modify them, unless they go all out. my intake is to help go up hills and help out with mpg's.
