One thought may be to try going under or over the girls. Over might be easier. If you throw over your left shoulder and you use your left hand to catch under on the right side you can use gravity to your advantage. tigergreene has a good point, it is about the snap. See if that helps?
It's not just about being narrow, it's also about shoulder girdle flexibility. It took me a while to master this and you have to really "snap" your arm around fast and hard to get the hoop. Remember that "wider" people tend to have longer arms too. If you're wider, try using a bigger hoop and stretch out your rear delts (shoulders), rhomboid and mid-traps (upper-middle back), lats (below your armpit), and pectoralis major (chest) muscles first. You'll be surprised at how much easier it is!
who you call'in "tiny" mo fo. I'm huge!! Lavander5 loved this move when she came out to SF last week, I definitely have to give you the credit for inspiring me with it's playfulness though... along with oh-so-many other things! (yes I am on rich's account, but this is The Lady)
That move is smooth. I really like it. I think you have to be "narrow" to accomplish it (maybe why I am still thwarted.) I could see it incorporated into a nice hoopflow.
ya know I think you might be right about the narrow part. I have a friend who is really tiny and she can almost pass the hoop directly from one hand to the other behind her back.
if it helps, try turning your catching side back around towards the hoop as you release it with the other side. Also the hoop tends to fall after you toss it so drop your catching hand down lower than your passing hand.
NICE!

Material Girl playing in the background is great! Love the moves but I'm female so my girls get in the way. :)

I tried but I am not narrow enough. Over or under the girls ends the same way...the hoop goes flying. LOL At least nobody was hurt in the process. :P

I've been working on this one lately. I'm not so 'narrow' as I used to be (certainly less narrow than lavinder5!!!) but it still works.
